found a (imho) good target for one of the arks:

distance from Synuefe d11-102 A2a just 1,69 Ly, so quite a short trip for a generation-ship
(I am still convinced that d11-102 is the homeworld, a landing site doesn´t require the catapults does it ? - and the two circular structures are build on top of the original habitational area, U do that only if U leave anyway....)

Stayed the night in that system several times now.

I have a habit, from exploring, of stopping for the night in normal space near a moon. Whenever I do that near the Ancient Ruins, a pirate FAS joins me. So I just picked the nearest star system and high-waked over there. Park it and leave the game.

I've scanned the planets on the main star but haven't found anything unusual yet. And I haven't landed yet. I may do a more thorough look-see later today.

Right now I am over at a starport in Exphiay. My CMDR decided he was tired of spit-baths and wanted a nice hotel room for the night.

Handing In Data
============

After a day at the ruins I returned to Felice Dock and got my 12 million. That was 2 days ago.

I have just returned to Felice Dock after spending a few hours game play collecting UP's (checking out a theory of mine) and I have been given the 'mission' again - which is nice.

So I will be heading back to continue in this information treasure hunt.

I mention this as I got the impression from this thread that you only had one shot at it - apparently not.

I should mention I have changed ships since the first time I got the 'mission'

I'd like to know this as well...

Apparantly it is possible to hand in the mission, get the rewards, and get the mission again. Still has to be confirmed it the same rewards are given from the standard obelisks.

Apologies for drift.... The SDC kiddies are instance jumping and ganking at the ruins site at the moment. Streaming as well if anyone wants to administer some just deserts go for it.

I'd like to know this too, I popped into open at the ruins, lasted about 10minutes in my python, I think two anaconda with heat weapons got me. So I'm back Felice now, wondering if to cash in my 24m and wait for the ruins site to be a little less buggy, or keep at it.
If I cash in, and then re-get the mission will it start from no data scans? I assume FD won't make that mistake, so I assume the datascans I have will remain and I can just try and get the new ones.

This ruins is exactly what stands after generation ship.

Their homeworld was

1) atmosphere

2) good fauna

3) good flora

4) Water ofcourse

We will see their world after 3 years may be. If only.. It was some cataclism and planet now without atmosphere, fauna flora and we can land..

Well.. they really like biological weapon.

I'm afraid of that answer. If he says we must complete in OPEN, we are screwed because of that kids killing everyone there for no reason.

Don't know if it's the same one, but he's quite cocky about it < Naming and shaming. Please don't do this >

Doesn't like exploits seems to be his excuse, but he's shooting up SRV's not just unmanned ships.

Hello researchers,

I tried to get extra data by using a meta-alloy in combination with the artefacts found at the ruins.
It didn't result in any extra data but i thought i might as well let you guys know

I scanned every obelisk with:
Meta-alloy+casket
Meta-alloy+tablet
Meta-alloy+orb
Meta-alloy+urn
Meta-alloy+relic
Meta-alloy+totem

Neither of these combinations resulted in an extra data.

With kind regards,
CMDR MrDizzer

Just wish I'd kept all of the data decode replies:

I should add: This is through a combination of passive collection from data leakage of others scanning, and my own efforts.

Frontiers stupid naming and shaming policy means I can't even be bothered to check my logs and see who it was that killed me at the ruins.
If Frontier actually wanted to stop this it would be simple, just give all landed powered down ships massively more powered shields, at least that way you'd have time to react or someone else can open fire on the attackers.
Another answer is just stick a capital ship over the ruins and let it police it. That would also make it a lot easier for people to find the site!

Unfortunately it seem Frontier are happy to sit back and watch everyone trying and failing to solve this puzzle while the kiddies attack their unmanned ships.

Okay, so for those who choose to, or can only play solo for whatever reason, having all the items (Casket, Urn, Relic, Tablet, Totem and Urn) in your ship's cargo hold, parked very close while scanning, does not result in any successful scans. I'd be genuinely interested to hear from MB as to whether this mission is fully achievable in solo, without having to resort to open or PG.

It'd be nice to know, since all things currently point to it not being reasonably achievable in Solo, thanks to the potentially buggy nature of event registration in open/pg instances.

It's pretty frustrating. I was actually pretty happy with this mission at first, because it was exactly what I'd been craving; sure, it's a grind to get through every permutation at all 15 obelisks, but hallelujah there was feedback if we were right or wrong. I can work with that, it doesn't need to tell me what I did wrong or right, just that it was wrong or right, and I can scry the reason from my own actions. But with the somewhat random nature of obelisks activating with multiple players around, it suggests that there's a hidden mechanics with no feedback in-game, which, just like every RNGesus search like UA/UP hunts, looking for barnacles and the like, is no good.

I wouldn't have thought generation ships would require landing pads to land, if they did you sort of creating a chicken and egg problem.

potter is there i repeat potter is there

he ended up in my instance. the devs really need to step in at this point and put a cap ship there to protect us researchers
