SHIP TRANSFER - Way too expensive / Jumping for hours = WASTE of time

Ship transfer should have more then just a time/money gate. Why can't we at least of a little cgi clip play of a massive freighter leave a station and a message saying your stufff is on the way. Then anaothet vid message play once the stuff arrives at destination.

Right now the way its implemented is just bare bones and sad. It's 2017 we need more in game content.

People always unhappy.
Always.
They just unhappy, no matter what's going on. It's a human nature.

People are happy when things are working properly.

The feature is too expensive to use with large ships, fine for small ones though. Once the price is adjusted down a bit this feature will be worth using.

Remember, devs are just wasting their time when they make features nobody uses. Let's assist them with feedback so they can understand where a feature might have a problem.

I have to ask, what is 'real development' ? what do you envision?

How is it you can even ask the question given the fact you've been here so long and have read these threads before? How on earth have you not go it by now?

Then I again point you in the general direction of the door, as you apparently are looking for something entirely different than what you purchased.

Because now you are getting into changing core mechanics (ie Fast Travel) and that is yet another topic that has been Beaten To Death on these forums, and as such does not need to be rehashed in this thread.

Sorry I/we couldn't be of more assistance to you...

Judging by the lack of threads and posts around here now, I'd say your bad attitude has seen off more than a few people and other like you. Thanks for making sure we won't see S5! Good job ;)

For small ships, the 10% hit on buy/sell is often cheaper than transfer. Would be a very nice addition to the game, if implemented in a reasonable manner, but instead is unattractive at best and untenable to many. Shame really.

So, no answer, just words thrown in reply without any actual content, okay. That's not an actual response, that's just words. Go play a mobile game if you want instant gratification.

Judging from your posting history, you do nothing but spew salt and make noise.

What I did notice is that I had several ships scattered around.. recalled them all to a central place.. thought.. OMG 45 minutes? well i kicked off the transfer and logged out.. thought I would enjoy some personal time while it did its stuff.

When I logged back in, I noticed the ship transfer completed, but the galaxy map showed all my ships still in their original location.

I thought AWESOME! It's duplicated my cutter, and thought I would take advantage of this 'glitch', and set off to the station my other cutter was at to sell it! I'd do it over and over and over, rinse and repeat until I had a trillion credits..

ALAS a cutter was not at the station, even though the galaxy map said it was. All my other ships have the same issue. so now i have a load of old ship locations all over the galaxy map, even though they're all in the same station in reality.

Anyone else seen this before? know of a fix?

Oh boy...did you rent the Corvette or did you buy it? [squeeeee]

Now seriously:
You could upgrade FSD, strip her down, jump to the system...and have your favorite heavy kill modules transferred.
Should be cheaper.

For people thinking it's a waste of time/money - just fly your ship out there instead.

That's like complaining to a cab driver that it's too expensive and slow to take a cab a few blocks and that you could have walked instead. Who can you blame for not walking? Oh right, everyone else.

Yup, but once you put modifications on your ship then selling it instead of transporting it isn't really an option.

I've transported my small ships when moving station a couple times. But the price of moving my Python was too much, and the Annie was way too much.

No answer to what? I wasn't asnwering a question, I was pointing out a fact, much like I do in all my posts which are highly inconvenient to people like you. As you're so keen on looking at posting history, go back and look for the answer to the question - it's only bee nsaid here a trillion times so how you're not aware of it either only proves the two of you suffer from slective reading. On top of that, you decide to get insulting further showing how bad you are at forming a cogent response so I'll add you to my ignore list as well. I'd rather not have to read more insults thank you!

No, actually you were responding to a very direct and clear question, to which you provided no answer and no "fact". If you were pointing out a "fact" you would have offered something other than
How is it you can even ask the question given the fact you've been here so long and have read these threads before? How on earth have you not go it by now?

That doesn't look like a fact to me. That looks like dancing around the issue and refusing to actually address the clearly-stated question presented. That's actually pretty far from a "fact" because you say nothing solid, definitive, or significant.

Though, thank you for proving my point about your posting history.

So let me get this straight, I (and others here) present cogent information that the Ship Transfer was voted by the majority of ACTIVE PLAYING PAID CUSTOMERS through a poll tied to the launcher and bound to a 1 vote per active account rule - to be made timed instead of instant, knowing that the costs would be lower than Instant, was the preferred and acceptable path.

Your response - Everyone but me was wrong and dumb for requesting this mechanic.

I further present that the costs of transfer - in a subsequent patch - were reduced by 50%.

Your response - It's not enough, the costs are too high.

Others post here that this is essentially a dead issue, and I state - politely - that it is time to move on.

Your response - NoNoNo! MeMeMe! Gimmmie what I want - you are wrecking my game!

I have tried logic - didn't work.
I have tried facts - didn't work
I have tried courtesy - didn't work

Now I will just have to be blunt - It is what it is. This has been dead, beaten, buried and resurrected way beyond acceptable. The mechanic, as implemented, can and does work for a large number of people. Next week when some bloated gasbag gets a bee up their bonnet to start yet another Transfer Times/Cost = Not Good since it isn't Instant/Cheap thread do everyone here a favor and use the search function, examine the results, and maybe you will come to the realization that this tactic of sniping repeatedly on the same topic ain't gonna work any better than the last 10,000 times it was tried.

And as for "making sure we won't see a season 5..." - I will still be here, as will the game...will you?

Just throwing in my 2 cents. I don't have a problem with the transfer times. It feels like a good move imo with the delay and that's fine. However, the prices of the transfers are ridiculously high. Simply switching ships at the current prices is not a thing to take lightly even if you have billions like some of us do.

Yesterday for example I had a mission pop up for a mission that paid a mil for a single jump. Problem was I was in my new Anaconda and I needed a ship that could dock at an outpost. No problem right? Python's docked 3 jumps away. But no, the price to transfer it was 800k, most of the profits from that mission I needed it for. So I ended up doing what I normally would before ship transfers and bought a hauler, outfitted it, flew to get the Python myself, sold the hauler and flew back hoping the mission would still be there. I got lucky and it was but just imagine if it wasn't.

FDev have always had problems with pricing and payouts and this is just another sign of that. I don't think they need to adjust the time at all. I think that's fine. But the prices are way too high to make ship transfer useful. FDev should really think about adjusting that. Otherwise I can see a lot of people overlooking this feature

My point was that, as currently designed, it does not even work in an obvious way for small ships transferred over 100 ly or so. Although obviously agree about the engineered ship/component incentive. Big ship pricing is a major disincentive.

Why doesn't it work? Most of the transfers I do (I use this regularly) are at an average of 200 LY (much shorter than that and I'd rather pilot them myself).

But transfer is more than that. Sure, if you are at hi tech with the ship and all the gear you need, if you have no eng goods then there are times a quick ship build MAY be easier, but that is quite the perfect storm.

Indeed. To transfer my non-engineered cobra III from shinrata just over 80 ly is 34.6k credits, about the buy/sell loss. Presumably it would get more expensive with distance. (I assume would be the same cost the other way, where I could easily refit, in this special case.)
The engineered components and having to refit a new ship is obviously a factor. But something just does not seem 'right' in terms of the base incentive to use ship transfer, in this case. And as you say, I could do this in 4 ish jumps. So ship transfer is not the most attractive option, by design or otherwise. I do not know which.
