Or... and I'm just throwing this out there... we're all missing something??? We might not have all the pieces to the puzzle and are stubbornly tying to complete it anyway.

I think this is more likely. We've made assumptions that solo was the broken mode, not open. If we're getting more than we should in open, and have been studying in open, then there's definitely something that we've missed.

I'm Guessing the latest Community Goal with throw a small bone when complete

So it's deliberately set up so solo players can never complete it? Not ok.

That's not what he said.
Sounds like 13 data is supposed to be the limit for this site and multi-player instancing is incorrectly enabling access to more.

13/101 would then suggest perhaps another 7 sites to find.

I'm going to go solo tonight and try some experiments,

I am currently convinced that certain combinations of scans unlock other obelisks but due to the number of people scanning in PG/Open it is throwing off any logic.

Also we all know that the proxy scans are not how it should be working.

Very unlikely. He probably means there are some additional steps required to light up additional nodes in solo and these steps are ignored in Open/PG

Today's Community Goal is requiring UA fragments, to research how to protect stations from UA bombing. (At least, that's what Sirius Corp wants you to think :D)

Edit: here's the mission text, via /r/elitecg
It is widely understood that Unknown Artefacts have the ability to extract materials from their immediate environment as part of a complex self-repair process. Unfortunately, this can have disastrous effects on starships and other forms of machinery.

Perhaps the worst affected by this phenomena have been the galaxy's starports, many of which have had to suspend services as a result of Unknown-Artefact related disruption. The high prices offered for Unknown Artefacts on the black market means many starports have been flooded with the mysterious objects. And although meta-alloys can be used to counter Unknown-Artefact related interference, the scarcity of the material means this potential salve has had little impact.

But a recent announcement from the Sirius Corporation indicates that the company intends to tackle the issue by funding a major new research and development project. The purpose of the project is to make starports and other outposts more resistant to Unknown-Artefact related interference through the application of specific microresources.

In support of this programme, the Sirius Corporation has placed an open order for Unknown Fragments, Untypical Shield Scans and Aberrant Shield Pattern Analysis, and promised to reward pilots who deliver these materials to Cormack Hub in the Procyon system.

The campaign begins on the 19th of January 3303 and will run for two weeks. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately.

To be eligible for rewards you must sign up as an active participant before delivering Unknown Fragments, Untypical Shield Scans and Aberrant Shield Pattern Analysis to Cormack Hub in the Procyon system.

Be aware that faction-state changes, UA bombing and other disruptive events can negatively impact markets and station services, and could prevent the initiative from running smoothly.

RPing... ah, the oh so trustworthy Sirius corporation. A shame that so many Unknown Artefacts will need to be destroyed to support their noble effort. But then again if commanders happen to have some Unknown Artefacts in that locale then why not, as it's not like there's an immediately obvious better use that they could be put to.

:)

I think its more like solo is currently the only mode to solve it correctly, we are just too stupid ;)
I'll be fine with that if it turns out correct :)

EDIT : I guess that would leave us still on a blank as between the client crashing out to desktop and (possibly) random adjudication server disconnects we still can't actuall complete it in solo :p

Edit 2 : Just seen MBs second post. The above is retracted.

Likewise. I've turned in my data, so i'm effectively starting again. Going to see if I can find some kind of pattern to turn on the other obelisks.

The behaviour for solo sounds correct, but the open situation sounds like it's revealing more than it should. We'll look into it, but I don't think you're missing anything that should be able to access.

Michael
WOAH, so, Solo is working correctly, and Open and PG's are the broken modes??? :S

No - open is showing more than it should. You can still get the scans elsewhere.

Michael

Ah, so the remaining scans come from the other ruins which we know nothing about nor have any clues at all to their whereabouts. Gotcha!! ;)

That....helps? I think? :S
