So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Hmmm...."we are leaving the galactic arm" and "the galaxy is faint and dim behind us"...never saw the galaxy faint and dim in my travels...i saw it farther away, yes, but never faint and dim...

So what's the distance from EAFOTS EU-R C4-1 to Reorte? One of the logs said that that's 2/3 of their planned trip.

The log said they had traveled for 6 months, and could start the return journey in 3 months.

To me that implies they had arrived, and needed to work for 3 months, then have a 6 month return trip.

It is purposely vaguely written.

Ok, base location ist at -34.2057, -77.6673

Unfortunately, FD didn't checked the placement, so some of the stuff is hard to access. (see screen)

Excellent work! Right on Commander! Awesome base too, what a find.

That's an excellent observation, and a super good question.

Definitely. Still, it's a clue - hopefully we get a fuller picture once we get all the logs.

Good job on the cliff hanging & congrats on finding it!
.
And now we know we're also looking for a ship too!
I'm guessing even in 'standby mode' that the ship would of long since run out of fuel & shut down after 32+ yrs?
.
Right, now back to jumping! ;)

So we have a vector and range for the proper Formidine Rift... this-a-way and half as much again. Not where we thought!

Nooo! Get FD to change it to what it should be :)

Agreed - they need to learn to spellcheck and cross reference. It produces enough bugs already, if we start catering to it then it will not get fixed.

I read the messages differently. That their destination was "this-a-way and half as much again", not that their destination was the Formidine Rift. They named the area they got stuck in the Rift.

Edit: Which I guess is confusing to me seeing that the mission is called the Formidine Rift Mission, but they named the area after they got there?

How about mentioning the derelict ship talked about in this latest find? (Someone mentioned another ship, but I wasn't aware their was an earlier one).

I interpreted it a different way: that the Formidine Rift is right where we think it is, where the beacons and these stations are, BUT their destination was still 1/3 to go, since the FR was only 2/3 of their journey.

And since they were following the R-R line to their destination, that means that some possible place of importance is another 3000~4000lys past the beacons in the Rift and along the R–R line. That’s how I interpreted it.

Maybe the Formidine Rift mission was always just a staging area in preparation to go to their actual final destination? A rally point?

At EAFOTS GL-Y E2 6 now, and the update page did not have a *found* settlement. These are found purely visually right? No POI circles or anything? Unforutnately the canyon system I'm looking at doesn't have light for a day, so yay me!

yea purely visual, Alpha and Beta bases have lights though. So while at 10ish km they are ALOT harder to see at night, at 5km, they are actually easier to spot at night.

Correct, settlement still not found there. Still updating that page. No POI's, just eyeball needed. Have added tips at the bottom of the post now.

Its 8412.38 to Reorte from EAFOTS RA-G B11-0 which is only 40 LY from EU-R C4-1.

The closest EAFOTS EU-R C4-1 gets to the RR-Line is 1137.53 LY at coordinates -6505.17, 48.75, -5076.43. Obviously, they were not following the RR-line or they were way off course.
