Your rank on the forums has no reflection on you as a person, or your capabilities as a player. Labelling most/all people with a forum rank with mostly harmless and below as "baiting" or "griefers" is not only ignorant, its pretty insulting. Just allow people to post their theories and chose to follow it or not. You could have politely asked for evidence, but instead you tried to discredit the CMDR on the basis of his forum rank?!?!? can you not see how this might be taken the wrong way?
I wondered where this would go overnight....
Actually, no, I didn't try to discredit them based on their forum rank. I was giving reasons why some people might be viewing it as a troll. Frankly what I saw was this:
- Player posts some fairly legit looking theorycraft, followed by a post of "guys I solved it" and not much else
- Others respond with, basically, "lol troll"
- Player (basically) says "What? Why?"
- Me: OK, this guy might be a troll, but based on his post history he seems more like a forum newbie
That's when I put up that list to try and
help out. If you're reading it any other way, you read it wrong. Honestly, to help a legit player who's being accused of being a troll you kinda have to talk about the reasons why they might be appearing like that. But whatever. Apparently simply pointing out someone is "Mostly Harmless" (because that's what almost all disposable troll accounts are - one/occasional use disposable things) == Gross discrediting accusations and slander. I guess the English language changed overnight too...
Maybe my post was abrupt? I'll cop that, I tend to talk that way, especially when there's a lot of other wowzering going on, plus I was literally on my way to sleep. But if it's not clear, I was trying to help because pretty much exactly the same thing happened to me with the UA morse, being talked-down by some "Elite" poster who'd been doing this "much longer than me". Been there, done that, got the scars to prove it.
Anyway...
mclester: Based on the posts made overnight... those craters with the lumps at the base are usually just impact craters, and can be found almost anywhere. They're good landmarks to start searching from though.
Meanwhile the "Singing" is normal atmospheric noise when you're in orbital flight. I thought it was significant once when hunting for barnacles... best bet to see if it's something significant is go to a system you consider "insignificant", get =~ 10k from the surface with no music, have a listen and see if there's any major differences between what you hear there and here. If you find something, grab a screenie and throw it up. Hope that helps.
