So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Currently circling the largest crater of Eafots GL-Y E2 6 (if I had to set a base, that's where I'd go but obviously FD wouldn't follow that logic so I know I am wasting my time). Well damn you never realize how huge this is... Probably haven't circled more than 10° around [wacky]

I can't believe that in 3303 we don't have better ways to check the surface of a planet. Give me imperial probe droids...That didn't take them long to find these rebels!

Riedquat or Reorte, If one can look at stations in one of the two systems, one of the EAFOTS logs the guy says they left Riedquat and then says that he got confused and actually was from the Reorte, maybe have something in the local news older or newer, im in the Rift doing search runs.

Fly Safe o7

I don't think that was a guy, some of tnose logs seem to be written by the O!d Lady herself ;)

Lol, well, if it helps, I'm only ~3.7k LYs from you now ;)

Imagine an ice planet approx 3700km radius - lots of geological features but very few canyons, a vast multitude of craters. Come join in the fun!,
or theres always the other one which 7000km and full of sand and craters. this going to take time unless someone gets a very lucky catch.

Cool pic! :)

Awesome! :p, can I name every other square km as I choose? Figuring they'll be plenty to go around ;)

Canonn is dealing with this right now; it's just not good design to have planets that can be many times larger than Earth and expect players to just 'dry-scan' them and hope they find something. If I could ask MB just one question about design, it would be why someone thought that this type of thing was a good idea.

Well gameplay-wise it makes sense as it could make things too easy. Imagine being able to send a probe that can scan 100 km² for instance and tell you if there is anything interesting it would drastically reduce the time needed to check a planet when it seems clearly intended to be a time sink... I could already know if the crater I am circling right now is of any interest and move on, instead I am in for several hours of flying around and this crater is just a tiny bit of the surface.

Now I wouldn't mind a time sink a little more engaging.

Obsidian Ant has produced another video about the Rift. Enjoy, CMDRs.

Cheers,

Drew.

to while away the hours as we search an area the size of Africa for something the size of a house.... by sight alone and only a topographical map with no place names...

There must be a logical reason for the locations of the settlements in relation to Reorte, the beacons, something in the sky...... anything!

might not be the case. EAFOTS GL-Y E2 | A 1 // 6 rotates every 1 day.

I thought maybe something about LOS with the beacon, but that fell a bit short.

Ahhh let's stick one over there...

In spacecraft capable of detecting all manner of signal, metallic, organic, and composite materials yet not a ping on radar. I suppose with no heat signature that makes sense, but these settlements have a bit of power in them to keep the datalinks going and in vacuum that means waste heat has to go somewhere. We just don't get to detect it.

!

This is all about team work, I'm checking the planet with radius of 1300 km , acording to my rough estimates it would take 460 hours to scan, so 100 pilots will find it in one day if they coordinate. There must be hundred explorers out there don't you think? :)

Right now probably everyone chcecks the same crater over and over :)

this planet need the most love with searching.
