Newcomer / Intro Speed delivery bonus and que problems.

I have had a couple good bonuses by getting an delivery update, but the game feels unfair and illogical when I cannot deliver them in time, because all docking pads are busy. I sit outside, and hope for a window to ninja a window in between all the players trying to dock.

Well, you don't lose anything, at least, like it was before, but only don't get the bonus.
There were some suggestions for queue system on outposts, but traffic jams are so rarely seen, that it would be unnecessary extra.

To be fair, unless you are running high yield passenger missions , the bonuses offered aren't worth the sweat. Often the time limit given to achieve them is just not possible , and I heard it said that this was a bug that as yet remains unaddressed. With regard queuing , adopt a very un-British approach , check the station slot is clear and just go for it ! You will already have been allocated a landing slot , so the only reason that you are left queuing is traffic , and at the end of the day you are far more busy and important than mere station traffic. Keep your speed below 100 or you risk a fine if you hit anyone coming out, regardless of liability .

Today, there have been ques everywhere. But it is weekend so perhaps that is why? Indeed I didn't loose anything but it is highly illogical to travel then being denied the bonus because the station can't handle the parking traffic.

At Russel Ring, I had to cancel the docking request 3 times, to avoid them time out today.

Well, it's a bit of an exploit, but if you REALLY need it, you can just quit to main menu and change modes.

Yeah. I didn't think of that actually but not a very immersive way of doing it. I love a challenge like this and I understand that I lose the bonus because my ship was too slow to reach the time limit or I was hijacked by a space pirate but, something as silly as a parking ques?

The cargo for such a delivery request was also questionable, like hey hurry up with those two crates of beer, we are getting sober over here. Now hurry it up.

Well, I guess if we want immersion, we will have to accept traffic jams.

Ouside the starter area, Powerplay HQs and community goals, they are a rare sight. Last time I had to wait for docking was during the Cemiess gold rush.

I totally agree, nothing wrong with the ques. I have no idea how these missions are generated but they could improve it by not offering bonuses on mission going to a space station that have been busy let say the last hour? There are many ways to do things but I'm not impressed by the current system.

I think you can only go so far with procedural generation.

I noticed that my assigned landing pad is usually free if i get assigned one, but not possible with stations that are too small and you get docking request denied.

Rep (bonus) for not logging out to menu to reload the instance. That's honest play and way to go, Commander.

I think it's more fun if the universe gets in the way when you're trying to complete an updated mission. It is a bonus after all, and if anything the basic delivery is almost too easy .. but the logic of the OP extends to, 'no one should interdict me because I've been accepted a cargo mission' too and I think that's unrealistic. NPC's or other players don't know you need the pad, only you and the mission giver do. NPC's and other players might even try to stop you delivering on time but it would get really boring, really quickly, if the whole galaxy parted like the Red Sea, so you get a bonus every time?

You can abandon missions. And if it turns out they go to a station where you can never get a pad, as a pilot you'd probably see that getting in the way of your income, so might move to a quieter star system where it's easier to do business?

Defintely rep for not dock-logging though, big respect for that. o7

Is that Russell Ring in Eravate? If so it's a good idea to move away from the starter systems where it will be less busy (assuming you have the jump-range).

Indeed it is, but I'm too scared to move on yet. I got this game a few days ago. I'm still not sure what the war is about and not sure how transport business will affect my travels later on.

Aye. I wouldn't log off just to get a bonus. But I have made my first million and a lot nicer ship since then.

Being a peddler, you know. Transporting stuff. I will assume transporting stuff for one faction, will mark myself as an enemy of the opposite faction. Various factions going at each others throats, and then there is the federation, pirate factions and so on.

Ah. No .. you're OK.

ED is very much 'in development'. At the moment a good rep with one faction will not down rep you with another, though it's highly likely that will come in time. The exceptions to this are (1) Powerplay (if you pledge with one group you become enemy to other groups) and (2) times when you're active in a Combat Zone (when there's a civil war and you enter combat areas, you choose a side to fight for, but that's forgotten when you leave the area).

The explanation for this,is that us (players) are member of a trade union (elite pilots' federation). Some factions may not want to deal with us (until we get enough rep) but those factions aren't yet organised enough to attack us for helping other people, other than by fairly random NPC's. Upshot is, you can gain faction rep everywhere and you can move systems .. you'll start from zero with the small factions in the new area, but not from minus one.

Try telling my docking computer to wait till it's clear...it would blow a fuse ...seriously either I've never been where it's busy when playing in open mode, or Simply put there's never any queues in solo, I play a lot in solo and a 25k bonus is a lot to some. In this instance I don't consider it an exploit. The real exploits are the guys who make a billion credits logging at skimmer missions. YouTube is full of them ...and I certainly don't condone that . So yea you played at it is meant to be played, hats off for that
