One thing I want to know is...What have the Feds been up to all this time?

They built a whole series of Logistics support stations stretching between the bubble and the Pleiades, that just *happen* to run along the trajectory of known hyperdictions...and...nothing?

For a set of research facilities, they seem to be doing a pretty sub-par job of things!

Of course it could just be coincidence, what with it being the most direct route between the two areas, but still, I'd have thought they would have found something by now. Maybe they have, who knows.

They have still failed to take maia, and the alliance has established a beachhead in the california nebula
around fungal sites that which whose storyline hasnt been established. So interesting times ahead

Greetings all,

I was away for a couple of days and only got a chance to check in every now and then but gather there was a Community Goal regarding the ruins and data collected.

I thought this was a great idea to increase interest around cracking this mystery. I also understand that it ended after 3 days of a 2 week time frame. How bloody disappointing is that? I was looking forward to offloading a tonne of data instead of just deleting it. Surely (...and dont call me Surely) a longer Community Goal would have extended the investigation?

Anyway, are we just waiting for another hint from Ram or has one been provided?

Actually, that CG was just to make up for the fact that the first one they gave us ended in less than a day. If they can think up CGs so fast, one wonders why they can't fix the bloody ruins in a timely manner.

templates and deep metrics already exist for CGs, they would be easier to make on the fly, bug fixes require actual patches which is a bit harder for engineers to do

Other online games release patches weekly (Star Trek Online is a good example). FDev releases them "whenever". Usually a couple months apart.

Yesterday I've tried to search another sites on the same planet, remembering about 'three blue areas' at the radar reported here by someone (sorry man, it's too hard to dig up your name in this crowded topic). I also have a thinking that B and E groups looks like arrows that pointed left and right off this site, the 'left' one looks like its target must be not so far from this site. I've headed straight along B - E line and flied forward at about 1000m height, and after about 5 minutes of flight I've noticed an edge of big light-blue area on my ship's radar. When I flied inside it, the area filled my whole radar and I've lost the direction to its center or edge. I've tried to cross it, but after a bout a minute-length straight flight at speed of ~230 I decided to head up to the space to observe bigger area, and on the height of about 2000m the blue spot was disappeared, but I was unable to stop because of entering a hypercruise mode. When I headed back to the surface and was dropped to glide and normal flight, the blue area on radar never appeared again. I borrowed that area through the length and breadth without results, and soon three Fugitives came from nowhere and killed me in a few seconds. Respawn system was too far, and the time was too late, so I think I will proceed my researches today.
Coordinates I wrote when I was somewhere inside of a blue spot: -17,1 -140,25. I was in solo game.
By the way, did someone noticed that the highest narrow hill from the center of this site to A group points straight to the SYNUEFE XR-H D11-102 planet 1?

i really don't get it why we've to wait...
we've completed the CG.

Because Ram Tah has to "Analyse the data, and *hopefully* discover the secrets of the monolith network"

'Hopefully' my backside, if his successful report isn't on my desk by the morning he'll be on a long journey to the crappiest rock in the galaxy before he knows it.

Ever notice that if you are on a planet in your srv near your ship - if you log out - your ship is gone and has to be recalled - yet near ruins - your ship is where you left it....

Also ever notice some strange behaviour when you dismisss and recall your ship - it seems to land in quite specific place in ruins......

I had noticed that the ship tends to land inside the ruins, even if I'm a fair distance away and expecting it to land a lot close to me.
The problem with the SRV activating stuff is in solo we only have the SRV to drive around in, so if parking at point A does something at point B it's no use to us. But if packing our ship at point A does something then that's an interesting idea. However I'm not convinced we are suppose to get more than 13 datascans from this single site.

That's the new Mahon Research Base.
The older Mic Turner one is kinda red from being deep in the nebula.

I think any commanders visiting should bring trade and exploration data and take back any trading cargo they can just to stimulate traffic between the bubble and the california nebula

When frontier are redy to hit the big red button

Personally, im not sure the specific colour matters a great deal, its the fact that there is a change at all that really matters. From this you can infer that the northern region gets more light, suggesting either an extreme axial tilt and tidal locking, or an extremely eccentric orbit that puts the southern "summer" a significant distance from the star whilst the northern summer is much much closer.

Either way, loving the discussion of actual practical science that the ruins have given us, if nothing else :)

Ooh. Good sciencing, axial tilt or eccentricity, I like it.

Unless they are very weirdly orbitally locked to each other, and that planet is ALWAYS directly in line, I'd say it's probably just coincidence...OR you were incredibly fortunate and caught it at the right moment to have noticed it?

Not discounting anything at the minute...even a set of sites only able to transmit data to each other at certain times in their orbital period isn't THAT outrageous an idea tbh.

BTW:
Can someone give me advice, how to find a stars I'm looking at from ship/SRV on galaxy map. I was trying to look at most interesting alignments and then to find that stars on map. However between finding orientation points, stars rendering range on map and stars in "behind plane" messing and obscuring view I found it almost impossible. At this moment I wish there was something like "target a star in the centre of view" hotkey.

I would really like to know how to find stars easily from looking out the cockpit as well.
Tools for explorers would be so neat :)
In a thread ages ago I suggested a hot key to bring up a mouse pointer, click on a star and that would open up the Galaxy map showing the selected star.
Guess we'll never get anything like this in game :(

I was trolling around in the Alpha Dark Region hoping to get Hyperdicted last night, no luck, so I headed to Merope 5c to check out the barnacles.

Does anyone know the location of some barnacles (I'll save you googling, it is -28.8637 -113.9954)

Ruins location is -31.8 -128.9!!! They are on the same heading from 0,0! 256 degrees

Did you know Merope 5 is a Y class ringed brown dwarf.

Bit of a coincidence?

Been thinking about this and I think that (in Solo at least) there is a missing item. Which might unlock the last two of the first fifteen obelisks. - One then might expect the last two to unlock further obelisks (like in open/PG).

Missing item might be on this planet or another - possibly the moon?
