PVP piracy - Destroyed three trader ships over 4t of cargo... help me understand

That's why I have no compunction in not playing a game with you and just eradicating you. With another human being, I'd be concerned. You? Not so much.

So how would you characterize CMDR GTR2014 if not as 'human'? Non-human? Sub-human maybe? Come on don't leave us hanging.

Are we approaching Godwin yet?

Yes, destroying ships without getting any cargo. Well done! You are not a pirate. You fail at the very definition of pirating.

PS
Sorry, I confused you with OP, don't know if you are any more efficient than him...

I have my fair amount of stolen goods... And i think on my pirate carrear I only destroyed about to 5 ships (and one self destruct)

Here.

That should be enough for you to have a understanding of how i work... there's more if you want.

I'd prefer a working C&P system and meaningful security levels rather than block lists.

Not talking about block lists. You don't see the faction or legal status of a ship until you scan them, but you can read their names. And if someone who doesn't want a griefing ganker ruining their game and sees CMDR GTR2014, they can avoid them and keep away.

No block, just a list of people who have brazenly come out with a claim they aren't in it for the actual RP of PvP piracy, they're in it to beat up others in a one-sided fight so people can say "I remember that name. I'll swing left for a bit and if they change direction too, I'll just Solo the rest of the way" Or call for help. Ideally a C&P scheme would include an SOS that would, for example, leave a Signal Source for SOS that if you stop at will put you in the same instance or signal AI forces to come in and enfore the peace (with a delay and force numbers that correspond to the system security level).

Some people wanting PvP may not want THAT kind of PvPer and can voluntarily refuse a join request from them, PvE private servers definitely would. But no block.

A proper C&P system would leave this person a very VERY hard game to play with many more combat oppos than trader victims, but if they're looking for a challenge in PvP rather than PvE "noob Elite AIs", this should feed THEIR hunger too. Or make them leave if just 100% safe bullying was all they actually wanted, in which case good riddance.

So, no, I'm not thinking of a block list or ban. Just someone respected and relied upon widely to be honest to the point of silly to put those not caring what other people want. And a little safety from surprise attacks who just wants to kill other players and ruin their day.

Inhumane.

No. Just you.

That's good, I'll just believe you instead of watching the video ;)

So everything working as intended for you?

Not really BGS is very screwed now, and cops should be more powerfull.. really Eagles? HAHA!

Plus as i said before, hatch breakers are not working right , and cargo bug still exists... but piracy all in all is a challenging situation and the enemy don't need to die for a win. and OFC if the enemy die is NOT a win... a Michael Bay? Sure, but not a win. I had several encounters and at least one of this guys from this vid is on my list of friends because of the Piracy.

So yeah I'm quite satisfied I would like to have access to data regarding trades... but that's just the way it is...

Not necessarily true, depends on relative piloting skills. At least some PvP players think they have uber skills when in fact they don't.

It is possibly true in the main when you talk about them ganging up on other players which in the case of the AI tends to happen less frequently - but to me that is a negative point.

Aye, I was generalising. Those picking on traders usually have less skill. But they still often beat the same rank NPC AI skills. Not so often now it's been improved, but true enough for a generalisation.

CMDR GREEDY RAIDER OF LAVE, PLEASE!

I get what you are saying about skill X fight power, and that's why i fight in a Cobra MkIII , i don't want anything that could mass lock or have enough firepower to melt down a ship in seconds, that's no fun... Plus with combatloggin most people tend to stay and underestimate me and the Cobra , Some people actually fight back (like the Anaconda in the Vid Bellow)... So i'm not a guy in a Cutter taking down other guys in smaller ships.. I can have better skill (and a combat ship) but this loadout would never KOS anyone ...

Now I like your idea of a Beacon for help. And I'd like more power for Cops. Thrust me I always want MORE challenge. One of my suggestions was to ditch the ridiculous EAGLE-VIPER-ANACONDA Cops for a more suitable VIPER-FDL-CORVETE-CUTTER-Python...

Also I loved the extra 100% hull it was hard to kill the thrusters of an T-6 without killing it, now is more possible thus making then more easily to pirate.

You can watch all my vids. I'm not the "pirate" you are saying. quite the opposite actually

Dammit Greedy Raider of Lave... Totally out of REP to give you, apparently I've Repped you too recently.

Honestly, this is the kind of PVP that Open is supposed to be about, and piracy like this is in no way griefing. Keep up the good/bad work!

The problem in general with piracy demands is knowing the threshold for how much cargo and what type would placate them. Real pirates would have cargo scanners and know what you are carrying as a result and make demands based on that knowledge (even if it is ALL cargo), anyone else (NPC or PC - who make demands without such knowledge) is basically just an idiot IMO.

I don't need a magic 8-Ball to tell me the T9 with no shields, or weapons in the CG system is carrying cargo, amount doesn't matter, it's not like I can take more than a 100 tons.

Assumptions are the mother of all <bleep>ups... people who make these kinds of assumptions are not idiots, just plain stupid IMO.

I'll go ahead and assume that you are assuming (since I doubt you've pirated before) that not having a cargo scanner is idiotic, doing that is idiotic and stupid, by your own logic.

I don't think I'd bother with a cargo scanner, were I to take up piracy.

You should, it's essential for seeing how much cargo a trader has and therefore essential for negotiating how much to take. In fact it's probably the most important module for a pirate since even if you just plan on firing hatch breakers you might want to see if there is any cargo to hatch break first. [smile]

This is ofcourse mainly an assumption but, considering how few real pirates there are in this game in relation to how many babykillers who frequent the busiest places... I'm not at all surprised people wouldn't stick around to find out which kind just interdicted them when a few shots from a highly engineered combatship can blow up a cargofocused trader.

Do you have any numbers? I don't doubt the amount of pirates is low but do you have numbers on the amount of babykilling UKIP ISIS members there are vs just PvPers?

I'm too cautious for any of this and I don't negotiate. I probably wouldn't even communicate. I'd hit my target hard and fast, leave them with disabled FSD and thrusters, force open the cargo hatch, take whatever fell out, and leave. Leave finesse to the more pretentious types...smash and grab all the way.

Not that I plan on becoming a pirate any time soon.

If you try that good luck, you're gonna be met with so many combat logs you will likely run out of patience after a few attempts. It's much better to use communication and negotiating first, then if that doesn't work you start the violence.

If someone is the sort that would combat log under any circumstances, then I'd rather know sooner than later, so I can report them, then pretend that CMDR doesn't exist.

I'm not going to upend my play-style to cater to cheaters or would be cheaters.
