Bear in mind however that I'm 99% sure that the first thing a few people did was check those coordinates on any potential site, and nothing came of it.

Yeah this was a manifestation of my lack of any maths past GCSEs in 1988. I thought that perhaps the coordinates may change on larger or smaller planets. Apparently they don't.

I just spent so much time there.
I'm starting to think it's not that system. I moved on to one with more atmospheric planets

Presenting a more atmospheric planet...

I spending the last two days saying.

If I where an alien.. What would I consider suitable?
Well first of all. I think the most important thing to pay attention to is the class of system star.
What type of planets does the system host.. Would they be good for mining and materials for a colony.

And how far from the star are the planets for safety security. Making it harder to find the colony.
I wouldn't be paying much attention to finding an identical planet. But a moon should be important.

Or rather "to think link an FD employee" as we couldn't possibly know how aliens think. Hell maybe the guardians didn't care what planet and just said "well just build it on that one, as good as any planet".

I'm tempted to rule out the planets more than 200,000 ls away from the main star, since the "I ain't got time for that" crowd would moan. Can you imagine the whining if those people had to fly for 15 minutes in supercruise?

IC 2391 SECTOR ZE-A D101 only has atmospheric planets around the jump star. All the landable planets are 333kly away.

Wasn't it so that the other systems were always visible when looking up on the original site?

If so then I have a Theory that all the unknown sites always should be able to see the original one. From there you can further narrow down the possible locations.

On a other not I'm mostly searching in the system IC Sector GW-V B2-4.

Were I think there are a few planets that are most likely to hold a ruin.

First a Screenshot of the entire system map to help others probably save some time with searching for possible planets.( i could have missed some with my basic Discovery scanner)
Take not that the fourth star is +- 45000LS away from the one you arrive at and only has one good looking land-able planet which is probably disqualified for being to cold.

The most likely candidate is IC Sector GW-V B2-4 A-1. It has 315K temperature.

The others that could also possibly have one, if temperature wasn't as important as having a orbiting planetary body. Then possibly IC Sector GW-V B2-4 A 3(207k temperature), IC Sector GW-V B2-4 A 4(207k temperature), IC Sector GW-V B2-4 B 1(207k temperature) and IC Sector GW-V B2-4 D 4A(51k temperature). B-1 and D-4 also score good in the screenshot category.

Here are some screenshots of D4. This planet kinda makes me sing Uranium Fever.

I hope this information can help a bit to solving this puzzle.
