I only closed my eyes a bit... I would swear that i see a ruin just before i fell asle... I MEAN rest my eyes a bit...So LET ME OUT OF THE ESCAPE POD PLEASE!!! I NEED SOME BISCUITS!!![cry]

I'm hauling your frozen butt back to Felice Dock, just as soon as I finish my next search pattern. And you'd better hope I don't fall asleep or we'll both be decorating the wall in Ram Tah's office.

Well, I went back to the known ruins to try to find some correlation to the new systems, found nothing.

I doubt we'll get any pointers from the ruins, since the planet moves. I did note that the pixel-twinkling from the metallic parts of the ruins is visible from an altitude of 6 km, but the terrain portions fade out completely. Horizontal distance is about the same, but you have to squint REALLY hard or be looking in exactly the right spot at the right time to notice.

Has anyone tried landing and using the debug camera to look under the surface to look for signs of the ruins in the distance?

I doubt that will work because you need to be close to them for them to generate

I once had a clipping error, and my go-cart deployed underground. I could see that the structures around the monoliths (the big black things) continued quite a bit underground, but they were separate entities, not part of a bigger hidden structure. couldn't see very far.

and I VOTE that the escape pod occupants while in their pods are AWARE........its funnier. Staring out the face plate for hundreds of years (suspended body, active mind working senses)

one I just picked up was upright....staring one way, wondering what the occasional knocking sound behind him was
other face down in the dirt........now he had time to think!

I'm not sure how well FDev can come out of this:
a) they don't intend us to brought force this, there are clues, but we are all just too stupid to have found them and figured them out.
b) they don't intend us to brought force this, there were clues, but someone at FDev screwed up and they didn't get released and/or bugged.
c) they don't intend us to brought force this, they expect'd us to realise it's an almost impossible task, as we have NO TOOLs to search a planet, we should just wait for FDev to throw us another bone - when they have figured out what type of bone to throw us.
d) they do intend for us to wasted our precious gaming time looking for a slight different beige smudge on a beige landscape stretched over a million km2 of planetary surfaces.

Frankly none of these options are fun game play and none of them make FDev look good. - Worse they make us look bad for assuming it's a,b or d and wasting our precious gaming time.

Ugh... So play music or something... bcs this is like hell, i can only watch youtube videos about cats and also u have this cargo bay completely messed up. I can only see empty bags of Doritos and bottles of Monster...[uhh]

This is certainly depressing. I've set my graphics for optimal settings to notice the ruins. Even when at 6km up with the ruins a few km to the side of me it's near impossible to tell that they're even the ruins. What chance do I have of finding these other ruins!?

I think I might let someone else find them...

I came back to this game once I heard about the Alien Ruins. It was exciting. They were found pretty quick.
Then they released the RAM message too early
Then the ruins were bugged. They even required you to re-log 27 times to experience the ruins to the full and this is "working as intended". Poor show.
Then they give us a community goal to occupy us which uses a heavily bugged feature of the game.....why?
Now they give us a ridiculous number of planets to search which would require playing this game as a full time job.

I'm gutted because the reason I came back to this game is now making want to walk away from it. There is a lot of wasted potential. Why, oh why, would anyone release a feature in a game that requires a person set the graphical setting to low to even have a chance of glimpsing the ruins.

I want to refuse to walk away from this game, because I want to love this game. I used to. Rant over.....back to searching.

The odds of finding these ruins makes me question xdeath's find. Either he was EXTREMELY lucky, or....[alien]

There were a lot of commanders on that planet at the time.
It was a coinsidence that xdeath him self found it.
Another commander found it independently, very shortly after.

The original ruins had far more observational direction to narrow down where to search. I have no doubt that if a screen shot of the sky taken from any of the new ruins locations were released, it would be well less than a day before they were found...that is the problem here...the scientific community on this thread is indeed that good, that just the smallest bit of concrete direction, and things get figured out in a hurry. I dare say that the devs who are working on these puzzles for the game are outmatched by the wit of the community, and the only way they can reasonably stretch anything out to any amount of time is to simply make it unsolvable.

Im heading back to the bubble, I pressed throttle instead of reverse and my shiny new Cobra bought and engineered today for fast low altitude flight ended with 43% hull and canopy severely damaged.

I will stop at the ruins, so if anyone needs screenshots of anything please let me know.

Guiltily glad its not just me! My nice new Diamondback Explorer has been pounded down to 46% hull because whilst moving around the ruins at low altitude I got "deploy landing gear" and "boost" mixed up.

Twice.

Any chance someone could come check out D101C 3 87.5072/89.9779?

I just had something extraordinarly weird happen, a really loud banging noise then a screech that made me rip my headset off (I don't do well with jumpscares, and this was one) then a crescendo of music that I could hear through the headset sat on my desk. All the while I'm sat looking at this bit of terrain that appears to be stitched in, runs nearly North to South. I dropped into this area because I spotted a crater-within-a-crater that clutching-at-straws very vaguely resembled something from the known ruin site.

I've managed to get this on stream (streaming to twitch just in case I happened to stumble across something interesting) so I have video of it. Either IRL computer ghosts or ED suddenly decided to join in the survival horror genre.

*edit - a relog has fixed the terrain.

I'm pretty sure it's "option a", but a forum thread really doesn't help when discussing the various elements.
- there have actually been quite a lot of posts about the markings on the pylon, but the posts are usually "did you see them?", with no actual discussion on what the markings could mean.
- the markings on the relic have been 'discovered' so many times that it's not funny at this point.
- the "ruins are a literal 2d/3d/smell-o-vision map" is a frequent post. Those usually come with diagrams, but who knows if any of those come to anything....
etc.

It's just a bit of a mess, other than planetary searching (which is organized outside here).

Taking a tea and biccie break - will head over shortly
