OK - a question for you.

Why is Polaris constantly in line-of-sight from practically the entire northern hemisphere of Earth? Not just the North Pole?

The upshot is that if you stand at latitude x° north, then all stars within x° if the north pole star are permanently within line-of-sight.

I'd be using this characteristic to guide the search and narrowing down the range of surface area on each candidate planet/moon.

I believe this answers your question, https://youtu.be/TeMooNFtFJk

Because the Earth is flat. DUH! ;)

I know this is only artwork but just count the details:
1 - Obelisks near a hill or mountain: IC 2391 Sector ZE-A d101 c3a has that near the crater
2 - Planet in backdrop looks exactly IC 2391 Sector ZE-A d101 c3a is in orbit of
3 - Vents just like the ones in this IMAGE found on IC 2391 Sector ZE-A d101 c3a at 19.4989 61.8989 within about 100km of the plants.
4 - clearly not same obelisk formation on Alpha site.

I've been chasing shadows and strawberry trees, so I've logged out for a few hours, I'm currently on c3a, so will check it out later.

Hey guys, so I was exploring one of the large craters on IC 2391 Sector ZE-A d101 B 2 and came across this:

DoHKS4g.jpg

I was wondering whether this is just a graphics glitch or a graphics glitch showing a POI? I've seen them mentioned before with the other alien ruin is all, so wondering if this is yet another clump of trees or something.

Another question, has there been some generally agreed upon criteria for a planet/area where a ruin could spawn? I'd like to narrow my search and have no idea where to start...

looks like a possible ruins site

Back again before bed with a new theory on potential locations for ruin sites on planets...
If anyone can add this theory to a fancy compass overlay with all the bearings, that would be amazing!

Interesting, Your site 1 almost correlates with mine.

both c3 and c3a are tidally locked right ? doesnt that mean the same sides of the planets will be facing eachother at all times ? if so can we not use that image as a guide to atleast identify what side of the planet we should be searching ?

Well now you say that they may be adjusting how we discover these sites.. Either a ram tah spoiler or we will be able to see them from orbit again maybe? Wishful thinking but one can hope right?

So on the bright side, I just realized it was 1:30 AM. MEANS JUPITER IS UP! So I grabbed my telescope and cranked up the magnification.

Saw Jupiter for the first time with my new scope. Saw Jupiter with its lovely dark cloud bands AND the four bigger moons. Europa and Io above, Ganymede tucked along the bottom of Jupiter, and Callisto far below.

Now I am really sad that I cannot hop in a Cobra Mk. III and head out for a closer look. :(

I hate sleep.

I missed about 10 pages! Lol

Glad someone likes my Indiana Jones comments... :p

I was tired.

This stuff is oddly addictive.
I'm at work all day, so no doubt I'll miss 183,282,694 new theories. Lol
One of them is bound to be right. Or a combination. :D

Keep up the crazy work people!

I think my theory worked :)

So i thought scan all the landables then check the data before I hand it in.

One of the landables is valued at 41309 credits
far above all other landables.

EDIT ahh its a candidate for terraform. still could be usefull info though right ?

Anyway here is a pic of the cartographic details and of the system map info of the planet.

I was thinking same thing. I made a short descent there a day before yesterday, went straight ahead very large crater with some nice features (but no ruins) and because it is little higher g then on first site I hit by accident into ground loosing like 50% hull. Went back to Felice Dock in Meene to repair and get reward for CG and drop exploration data. It also hit me that the reward was similar to earth likes or ocean planets. I though maybe because I "interact" with planet but maybe it is indeed a "clue".

What if it is a candidate to terraform because it used to be atmosphere planet in past? :)

Just thinking loud because honestly I have hard times chasing "structures" that are cracks in ground, little craters and everything that renders and looking like ruins. And at this point anything is better then flying and searching with no clues.
