Its a video game. If the above weren't true there would be no reason to use multi-crew. It also isn't unrealistic. Sail a large ship at sea solo and have 4 of your friends sail another large ship. See who sinks who first.
It is unrealistic.
A single commander can operate all systems of his ship fairly well.
So 4 ships with 4 times the hard points should always be more effective.
There is no reason a manually aimed laser weapon on a ship with crew should deal 4x the damage or be more effective at aiming than an automated gun on the same type ship with no crew. The idea is preposterous.
If the above weren't true there would be no reason to use multi-crew.
Then FD is using a wrong point of departure to sell multicrew.
This is not the way to do it.
To be honest as a soloist I don't really mind in practice, because I left Open from the very moment engineered ships got introduced (I don't want to be forced in an arms race).
This is only one more reason for me to stay out of open. So no problem for me at all.
But if npc ships get the same overpowered multicrew treatment then the game will become impossible to play for soloists like me. I will never play with other people. That simply is not my thing.
Anyway, I will see what happens, but this stuff does get me worried about the playability of the game for loners like me.
