I really, REALLY hope hired NPCs because I'm in the same boat.
The NPC's are excellent at PIP management as well as making one SCB seem like... umm, 12... so I'm all for a NPC co-pilot. [up]
I also want to hire a couple of NPC's to fly my other ships... is that coming too?![]()
How would 1 ship equal four ships of its type?
The reason we're not getting NPC wingmen, or crew, is that Frontier wants to draw in players for those roles.
NPC's don't buy new content.
Not everyone want to play with others.
Bigger ships being introduced at the same time?
It should be clear at this point that Frontier doesn't really care what anyone wants.
Wings of 4 are already in the game. Having one ship be equal power to a wing of 4 only means that now we can have a wing of 4, in a single ship. Nothing changes balance-wise. Unless you already have a problem with a wing of 4 you wont with multi-crew. If you do have a problem I have a simple solution. Solo mode or Private Group.
My problem is the credibility of a mechanism magically making a single multi crewed ship 4 times as powerful as one without crew.
I don't like magic in a space sim... engineers introduced too much fairy dust (like healing lasers) already.

I suspect one person can coordinate a lot better than four. Especially when there is beer involved.
You know how the Guardians wasnt the ship launched fighters the Commanders probably isn't us. And having multicrew will be bad for those in a multicrew not those without, I personally don't want someone else controlling my guns when grade A sensors are a far more efficient way of operating turrents. Unless of course they nerf that to make the Commanders add ons relevant. Given that FD are all in for this new expansion into sony's market multiplayer is likely going to over take any ideas of single player evolution of the game and all us loyals will be sold out in favour of a player turnover system based on a new rather than existing customer scheme

Somehow it feels strange that my Anaconda would suddenly be more effective if I have 3 friends positioned there. Would this mean that there would be multipliers to DPS and shields etc.? My car will not get any better if I take 3 friends sitting in there...
Oth, if they introduced completely new multicrew ships that are stronger and require full crew to operate fully, then it would be different story. Beer, technical problems and RL interruptions would make multicrew flying interesting.
Would be really interesting to see some developer stuff regarding this. Is there any this kind of official page in ED or FD pages where we can read on what is coming?
