Just finished compiling a site map of the new ruins, a few people seem to have beaten me to the punch though. Oh well.

Confirm - 10 (Casket + Tablet) - Language 1

Confirm - 1 (Relic + Totem) - Culture 1
Confirm - 27 (Casket + Orb) - Tech 1

Confirm - 1 (Tablet + Urn) - Bio 4

G is missing one Obelisk, 1 is a double one.
For safety you should also count the damaged one, you never know if they will become important

I was looking at the moon paths and orbital stuff, and I noticed that we have no way of knowing the
axial tilts of the main body and moons. Did I noob it and miss something obvious, or is this info missing
(because that will make determining the path of the moon in the main body coordinate system impossible to determine).

Anyone can enlighten me here ? XD

Eddb don't have this info for some bodies - for specific planets you can find it only ingame.

Reading through the spreadsheet, some bits of practical interest jump out:
We know they evolved as pack hunters with tribal groups of 20 to 30 individuals. They lived in jungle regions similar to those found on Earth, and preferred very hot and humid climates.

Several notes, the obvious is that the sites may all be in "tropical" locations? (assuming these planets were originally ELW and became de-atmosphered somehow?). It may also be a hint to the homeworld (originally) being an ELW...

Their earliest records tell of a great upheaval caused by climate change, and although the exact cause isn't recorded, there are references to a dimming of the sun

Hints to the homeworld star type? (we already know that the homeworld has a moon).

For example, the Guardians began to use statues to mark out the regions occupied by a specific clan

The barnacles?? (and/or the artifacts?) (and/or the stuff being deployed to the rift?)

They had two hands, each with four digits.

So, 8 digits....

History 5/21 makes mention of the use of statues to mark clan regions; sounds like that confirms the relic towers are pointers of some sort. I've just updated the spreadsheet, but here it is:
"This data holds details of the Guardians continue(sic) developement(sic). It appears that their early nomadic existence came to an end in the same period as the development of more permenant buildings - although the young were still encouraged to journey to other camps - and this switch to a more settled existence brought with it various social changes. For example, the Guardians began to use statues to mark out regions occupied by a specific clan. It's interesting to note, however, that I have found little evidence of conflict between neighbouring clans. Evidently, the careful management of their populations resulted in cooperative strategies rather than competetive ones."
Edit: ninja'd by CMDR Dumbo :)

i will say it again...
every ruin that has been found has a moon in uncommon orbit with sillikate vapour geysirs or silikat magma...
the moons are used as relay.
it´s not about the materials on the planets. it´s about the materials on the moons.
Modern antennas are made of ceramics and this is made of silicate and sulfur.

The moons are a natural relay/reflector or reciever.

and i bet my ASP the next planet with ruins 4 and 5 have a moon with lots of sufur and silicate magma or vapour.

*EDIT* and i´m going one step further...

this article lets me think that there is more to it than the obvious.

currently we are all trying to scan ancient alien obelisks without knowing what they are really made for. i´m afraid we don´t know what we are doing here!

Argh I don't know which to go for now! My gut feeling says AB3 because of similarities to the first site found, but the binary to D2 has silicate geysers...decisions decisions.

I think my "Fly the LAT line low down and the orbit line in SC" was also too simplistic, there is the off-set angle of the moons orbit as seen from the surface to consider, but I was too myopic and tired when I posted last night to realise/make sense of that. Others have been looking into working that out, I think, but I can't quote specifc posts - at work with insuficient time for a detailed search.

Galactic Mapping Project now features 'mystery' POIs

Link: Galactic Mapping Project

The Galactic Mapping team are happy to announce a new feature - 'Mystery' POIs have been added to the interactive map.

These are sites containing clues and leads to various mysteries within the galaxy - from the larger mysteries involving aliens and ancient ruins, to the smaller mysteries regarding what happened to the unfortunate miners at the 'Dav's Hope' mining facility...

This map feature should help you locate the abandoned settlements out in the Formidine Rift, Scutum-Sagittarii Conflux and Hawking's Gap:

In addition we have tried to preserve some of the atmosphere of the mysteries by not revealing everything in their description. A few examples:

All these mystery sites contains a link back here to the Canonn Research thread, since these map additions would not have been possible without the community effort of the Canonn.

Should new mystery sites be discovered please send the Mapping Team a notification as well, so we may keep the map updated :).

Important: we do not keep regular tabs on the Canonn Thread, so the best way to get our attention about any new mysteries uncovered is to post about it in the Galactic Mapping thread.

Just wanted to throw an idea out about the fact we have two sites of one format, and one of another, how about the sites being in groups of three?

Perhaps there are three identical sites, or there are three variants per group.

It's already been noted about three sites being in a triangle. If that's the case we'd be looking at maybe two more groups of three based on what we have already identified as confirmed and potential ruins systems?

Axial tilt and orbital inclination is available for moons.

MacrosTheBlack posted all info for all the bodies in this post: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-other-mysteries-Thread-9-The-Canonn/page1481

The only data we don't have are the angle between the system plane and the galactic plane.

I don't understand the relationship between Argument of preiapsis and the direction of of the tilt(inclination and tilt).
I also don't understand the criterion for determining zero longitude.

I think the first one is missing and the last to are my ignorance.

Third site seems to be found on Xbox one by Dameron! Please all cmdrs go to

IC 2391 Sector ZE-A D101 C3
Lat: 29.42
Long: -59.54

For confirmation!

Congrats to Dameron.

I must have passed within kilometers of it last night, I was chasing the moons orbit, started at around lat 30 long 60, now parked up at lat -25 long -63, the good thing, I'm already on the planet, don't have to make the 300,000 ls trek again.
