News 2.3 Dev Update

I can't wait seeing all the cool stuff in the galaxy without having to do anything other than log on...

Seems FDev doesn't care anymore and after seeing over 2 years of development of this game the 'Ease of Access' excuse is starting to really annoy me.

Coming right up after 2.3 teleportation:

-Teleport me to colonia 'cos there is a possibility that some people are disillusioned about it being safe and free of gankers in open mode so that i can grief them button
-Be the president of the Federation button 'cos i want to build a dyson sphere around sol and make thargoids pay for it.
-Quality of life improvement: Ease of Access people! Killgame button 'cos i am gitting griefed in open.
-Grant me 1 billion credits along with admiral and king ranks in fed and empire button 'cos who wants to spend time playing a game to achive goals.
-Give me grade 5 access with all engineers button again.. ease of access people i can't compete in PvP!!!!111!1 Whatever that is in this game, group ganking people without an actual goal.
-Kill x power and collapse it button in powerplay. Sorry guys i just don't have time to invest in this game and i want to destroy galactic powers with a push of a button just like popping stuff in candy crush saga.

Since you cannot transfer the helm and use srvs with your crewmates there is no long exploration trips and fun in exploration, not quite surprised seeing exploration getting shafted everytime.

I am a combat centric pilot but even i disliked how they go with multi crew now. It was supposed to be everything managing ship operations or maybe i expect too much from FDev.

It is so bad it even makes SC look better in my eyes and that is saying something knowing how much i hate SC.
SC has the excuse of being in early Alpha to justify snaffu's such as multi-crew = God mode. ED no longer has that excuse.
 
Instant transfer:

I think it's a little too free form, I think I'd rather see it that commanders have to all berth at the same station or even just be in the same system to join a crew, and allow you to instantly rejoin your last crew if you disconnect and reconnect and the crew slot is still open for you (i can see this being a great thing to sign up for long exploration trips).

Death or eviction, yes I can live with that, but instantly teleporting seems a little open to abuse
 
Another magic teleportation device, they just love to sneak it in.

It would have been much cooler to rendevous at a station to board another ship and then fly out. Or transfer on the planet surface or in deep space. but at least be in the physical presence of the other ship.

Disclaimer: I was pro delayed ship transfer

In this case though I don't see gameplay issues besides immersion - and that can be achieved setting up meeting at certain stations anyway.
 
Careful for what you wish for guys.

It's already an underwhelming feature as it is, the moment it's required to actually meet up with mates inside the same port nobody will ever use multicrew.

Multi crew will not last that long anyway (IMO) it'll be the CQC stepchild to Elite: Dangerous.
 
I'm not saying it doesn't, but to say to a Lone wolf player that their addition in 2.3 is a new camera is a bit rubbish.
Consider yourself lucky. The addition to a player in Open is getting rofl stomped by a God mode enabled immortality boat unless you're in one too and playing fiddle the pips.

how about this:
  • Telepresence = consoles (xbox and PS4)
  • Station Only Meet-ups = PC

Basically thought here is that console players do not have the benefits of PC such as VoiceAttack, HOTAS, and other addons that make ship control mgmt, frankly, a non-issue.

Also, given PC and consoles do not cross pollinate, it would allow the "stretched" reality on consoles, while PC would remain more true to "realistic" immersion.
 
if the helmsman has control over the pips can the engineer have a Scottish accent so we can state "I'm giving her all she got captain if I push her any harder the whole thing'll blow" ;)
 
Difference is your avatar just gets its presence teleported. You actually don't do anything physical, nor you get your ship transfered. Showing someone black hole is not really that special. I can watch videos, streams, etc. Your ship and anything you can do with it - anything substantial - stays where you are. Even if you get bounties in system 10ly away, you still have to collect them.
Fine , so it should only work within 20KM. or unlock the limit on fighters.

I think it should be instant within say 100LYs. so its not too bad , but still keeps the scale of the universe
 
Sounds great!

My 2c:

1. Since it's telepresence, is your ship vulnerable in space while you're in someone else's ship or are you effectively logged out of it?
2. To add to the telepresence immersion, you could have crew members glitch like the HUD does when the ship gets hit by weapons fire.
3. Can you add SRVs to the things that crew members can pilot?
 
Looks pretty good to me. Re:"magic unicorn" argument....Don't we have enough time sinks and grind already? Seriously, lighten up. This is just more opportunity for peeps to play together.

I do think the option to dump any responsibility in whatever action you took whilst on board another's ship is not the way to go. We need more accountability, not less, and certainly not a get out of punishment free card. Wanna fly outside the law? Own it! Part of the experience imo.

The next big thing that will delay the release of further updates will be balancing Multi-crew with wings .. mark my words

Or just have an option in settings ''magic : On/Off''
That way players like me can have that feature hidden , whiles others can go at it
 
First of all, I really like that the Dev-Updates are back :)

Everything that supports cooperative multiplay is +1 for me, since this is my favorite way to play with others.
Getting unique bonuses when teaming up (2 fighters, 360 degree scanners,...) creates an incentive to use this playstyle.
I do miss the option of using multiple SRVs... I would like to double up my mineral gathering speed when teaming up with my friends.

I have no problem with insta-join (since it will make multi-crew actuallly usable for so many people)
If you do not like it, just restrict yourself:
Do not allow some guy from Sol to take a seat when scanning Beagle Point and/or just dont join other crews that are not in your system.

Viewing the game with all its options I miss/would like to see many more non-combat bonuses for teaming up (scanning, mining, USS detection, trade boni, powerplay boni...) , but I hope this will be adressed in future updates (like the urgently needed exploration and trade compartments)

Any news about naming our ships?
