(This is just roleplay. Jaiotu is actually fabulous.)
Was the Earth Defense Fleet working with Core Dynamics? Not directly. We wanted to keep Metadrive's assets in the Federation and offered to either directly acquire them or to broker a deal between Core Dynamics and Metadrive. Our principle goal was to keep the technology out of Sirius Corporations hands.
You were attempting to broker a deal between a small company and your elegant leader's boss:
President Hudson, who also serves on the President's diplomacy team. Now, can you guess who funds Hudson and also provides the Vulture and Dropship at every shipyard owned by Hudson? "
Core Dynamics has been a backer of Hudson for a long time". It isn't just your delicious leader that assists President Hudson, but the public declaration of support for the Earth Defense Fleet
company is in literally on behalf of Hudson. So, you're not lying at least. You're just a
company attempting to help Core Dynamics, who funds the President (of whom you serve in a direct capacity), by deploying a military force in a cross-sector chase. What are you brokering? Where are your brokers?
2. Was EDF willing to disable Raan Corsen's ship? We did entertain the possibility at one time during the investigation. We did have the opportunity but restrained from doing so. We were willing to take whatever steps were necessary to get information out of Corsen to help the community understand what was going on with Metadrive. I think we made the right choice in allowing Corsen to escape to Alioth.
You use the word "allow" but any sort of statement is omitted from public documentation. In fact, the opposite happened. You
asked for public support to stop him, where your documentation states "
If Corsen attempts to flee you are authorized to disable but NOT DESTROY his ship." - Not even 24 hours later, the
tragic title follows your efforts: "
Earth Defense Fleet reports death of Raan Corsen earlier today". I remember what happened last time Core Dynamics was involved in an investigation, and it involved a large number of civilian/contractor deaths. But let's set that trigger to the side for now.
3. Was EDF on-site in Alioth immediately after Corsen's crash?I was participating live on TeamSpeak offering advice
Were
you the one who gave the recommendation to lie to the very individual you were attempting to gain trust from? To advise Ashley to drop the name of Salomé in hopes of continued contact?
4. Did EDF know that Raan Corsen didn't actually die? Yes. Our leadership agreed with Ashley Wilkinson that we would not release this information to the general public at the time.
Your statement here conflicts with your two above statements:
"
We were willing to take whatever steps were necessary to get information out of Corsen to help the community understand what was going on with Metadrive."
"
Our principle goal was to keep the technology out of Sirius Corporations hands."
A lie by omission when your goal was to help the community understand what was going on with Metadrive? To prevent Sirius acquiring the data but not inform the Alliance or Mahon leadership of the successful delivery? I can only imagine that you would state this to create a hall of mirrors where no one is certain if the
Federation had the data or not, because I assure you Alliance combined forces of a core system such as Alioth would prove more efficient than the EDF
corporation by an order of magnitude.
5. Did the EDF overstep our bounds by declaring the crash site off limits? No. This was worded as a request not an order. We had every right to ask Commanders to refrain from trespassing on the scene we just didn't have a right to enforce restrictions. Our plan was to have EDF Commanders investigate the site first hand as soon as they could acquire the permit or if we could locate members who already had one. Again: no EDF members who were online at the time had an Alioth permit.
You ask someone to dance. You do not request someone to dance.
When we discovered that a prominent storyline element was taking place in our own backyard we quite naturally doubled down our efforts to gain control of the system.
A system that you did not have jurisdiction in, nor control over, until MetaDrive entered the public eye. Because EDF is a
company, though, this oversight can be classified as an economic offer instead of a military invasion.
7. Is Commander Marcus Kross a little trigger happy? No. "Little" does not begin to scratch the surface when it comes to Marcus wanting to watch things explode.
That is a fair point (and rp-off: lol, fantastic). I am rather satisfied knowing that EDF corporation pilots continue the Core Dynamics tradition of
somewhat unusual though
always unconfirmed,
interactions with
the public.
Though it is heartwarming to see two corporations, such as Core Dynamics and Sirius,
also continuing their tradition of assisting one another in matters involving Frame Shift Drive technology. Especially after the Antares and Starship One both suffered "
remarkable similarities" that lead to the loss of all hands but one. Familiar, even, with how Jaque's station also seemed to share
similar similarities regarding the failure states.
I'm rambling now, for shame.
