when is the next wipe?

I just had an encounter with a certain Commander in the Federation Distress scenario in Eranin. When I met him a couple of times before and we were on different teams, we still left each other alone and went on with our money making business. Same went for everyone else on both teams.

Today however some players from my team decided to break the unwritten truce and went after him. With no communication possible yet, I ran a bit of interference and the "enemy" Commander managed to escape. He returned a short time later and I had him on my back. I turned around and fired a couple of warning shots at him. He jumped, just to return after a couple of seconds. Thinking he might get the message I didn't fire on him, but for him it didn't seem to make much of a difference.

And I have to say I can't blame him really. With so many "Commander Backer #" flying around, which both my team mates and I still are, how is one supposed to hold them apart?

So I'd really love to set a different character name in the game, but would like to do so without wiping my account. Since that doesn't seem to be possible for a while longer, the next best thing is to set a new name after there has been a wipe. Any idea when that's going to happen? Open beta?

Yeah, ditto - hence the reason for the topic.

What to do until the 29th? Thankfully I'm away for 2-3 weeks, so I have the decision made for me :)

Maybe there'll be an interim PB3 with some new mechanics?

Think I'll just do my Eagle. 20k towards it so far... I'll do more when multi ships are available.

What's the insurance cost on a basic Eagle?

You could fly around and try things out. Crazy mad things. The kind of thing you wouldn't want to do in the actual game.

and we have been given a market leg up in the meantime.

I just got my Anaconda and finding it harder to get through the docking slot than the lakon (yes, I know...), but at least I don't have to run from EVERY interdiction now :)

We will, of course, lose progress with the wipe but this is an excellent opportunity to try all the ships and weapons available so far - with the market fast tracked.

Why is everyone focusing on the wipe bit rather than the "lot of changes to the game" bit. Come on Michael, give us some hints as to what to expect in the next version!
