Ok, I've been a little frustrated that all the info is so scattered and contradictory.
I've attempted to consolidate and organize into the categories that I think matter:

Tab 1 - where are the sites and what type are they.
Tabs 2-4 - what do the different layouts look like (and where are they)
Tabs 5-7 - what do the clusters look like and what obelisks give what data (shamelessly stealing Rabbit's maps)
Tab 8 - how do I get each piece of data (shamelessly cribbing Allocator's sheet and BL1P's data).
It's very partial right now because I don't have all the info to hand.
I've done the crazy thing and made this editable to all - let's see how that goes

Sorry if this is listed elsewhere, but do we have any instructions on how best to find ruins?
I'm aware of 3 approaches so far:
1) Eyeballing from whatever height your gfx settings will likely render them at at surface speeds
2) Audio searching at 50% speed on silent.
3) The Orbital Cruise dropout method by CMDR Zorbaq (but I'm not clear on how high that should be executed and what constitutes a delay in dropping out of Orbital Cruise, as opposed to just normal variances).
Has anyone put any guides togther? I'm currently searching in Synuefe LY-I b42-2 on one of the planets listed as a likely contender based on make up etc as listed earlier in the thread.

I'm wondering how a mashup of all layouts looks, like all alpha layouts put toguether in the same pic, all beta, etc...

i am currently at site beta 2 (COL 173 SECTOR KY-Q D5-47 8 C -- LAT 16.2701 -- LONG 18.1282) and i cant get the right combination for 2 obelisks at the C cluster. i got lang 9/22 with tab+tab but the other 2 combinations simply do not work. can someone confirm this please:

First planet I approached. Obvious pattern is obvious, does it need elaborating? Let me know if it does.
Based on that pattern, I believe there's more to be found there still. Will keep on looking.
I just got Language 2, 3 and 5 at this site, in pg but no one else around so i'm assuming solo obelisk, will look for Lang 4 now

i find it more soothing and calming, plus, somehow it is brighter on my screen than the pics i take.
so im sitting at synuefe tp-f b44-0 planet cd1 at the gamma ruins, and my friend tells me to check my navigation panel, and the second option under my current planet im on "ancient ruins", since when did ruins come up in the nav panel ? xbox is having issues with clips and screenshots so i cant post a pic, but can people check if this is a thing at other ruin sites ?
