A Final Plea to Frontier for Longer Hairstyles

It also got dev traction via Ed, who I think handled the whole thing quite well actually. I wouldn't mind so much if some other things seemed to get the same level of attention, but yes, you have to pick your battles and there are only so many hours in the day, etc.
*just asked Ed about the FAS cockpit issue*

*crosses fingers*

Who knew you could get 34 pages worth of comments on long hair.

People really do invest far too much time discussing mundane in this game.
I thought we were discussing hair. Who's this Mundane? Is he Danish?

Come on.. It's a game.

This is true.

And really, if we're going to argue the point purely from a lore standpoint it makes little sense anyway since the 'crew' anyway really are just holograms, as confirmed by Michael B today in another thread.

Given that, why not have holograms with long hair? From a *lore* standpoint, that is. From a technical/resource allocation standpoint perhaps it still doesn't make sense. That's for Frontier to determine.

Thats a bit confusing then:
Just to be clear. The Holo-Me is a representation hologram of what you're going to look like. It then applies it to your Commander, who is a real person sitting in the chair.

I understand that things get cut from the development process so as to not derail the whole project. But I'd also like to voice some support for long hair in Elite. I'll never use it (short hair white male, check out that privilege) but given that hair is a very strong attribute for conveying character more choice is better.

Hope it is added to the to do list; right after more exploration tools, a powerplay rework, ship/engineers rebalance.

Liked what I saw of the creator though, looks impressive.

My problem with this Is their entire argument for this option to be added. Its funny how Momoka the OP of this thread started to realize that and logged off for the night but others couldnt grasp that and urged the OP to press on.

What, you mean she logged out after you gave her a hard time, you deserve the credit. do us a favor give it a rest hero.

Yeah, the Holo-Me thing (basically a mirror) is what *you* the character are supposed to look like setting in your chair. For multi-crew, though, the characters you see on your bridge or whatever are going to be purely holograms. Tele-prescene.

I dunno. Confusing. :)

It's all handwavium. Bottom line: it's a game. My personal opinion is that long hair isn't immersion breaking or anything, but that' FD's call. I can live with whatever.

I realise there are clipping issues with long hair. That's OK in my book. Long hair > clipping issues. And clipping might cause a problem with helmets. Just have a default "tied up hair" hairstyle for use in helmets.

Xcom makes female and male characters switch to a bald hairstyle when they wear helmets, except for a select few cases I believe. Not the most elegant solution but it works. Plus is anyone going to stop after breaking open a canopy to check how their hair looks in their helmet?
