The Star Citizen Thread v5

Staying on-topic.... How does Chris Roberts imagine he's going to get dedicated mining and exploration vessels into Star Citizen, if the actual mechanisms for achieving said goals don't exist in the PTU already?

I'm not being evasive, but I know this is a sticky subject with the mods, so I'm not going to post anything about it, but account grinders for ED exist just like they do for any other game. Just Google it.
LOL. Yeah, I imagine the market for that is hyuge...

Gold sellers can just move to another game if Elite dies, Star Citizen's grey marketeers would be stuck with thousands of dollars worth of "stock" if and when demand collapses. It's hardly the same thing at all, there are much greater incentives to prop a market like that up.

When we talk about Star Citizen's grey market, we're talking about what are essentially digital beanie babies

Excuse me? A grey market in Elite: Dangerous?

I don't think so buddy.

Try again.

Where do you think all the "I crashed my uninsured anaconda and lost everything" threads come from, they don't come from players with enough hours played to buy an anaconda.

However it's minuscule compared to SC's grey market, and it's also deflection.

and it's also deflection.

how is it a deflection? someone attacked me, and accused me of being a grey market boy.. I said I don't support grey markets, and mentioned in passing that I don't support grey markets for either SC or FD. Which blew up first into there are no grey markets for ED, to now, there is a grey market for ED, but it's minuscule (not yuge :)) , and I'm somehow deflecting...

I'll concede without issue that they grey market for SC is far larger than FD, without knowing any of the real numbers-- the current in-game mechanics for SC simply allow for more openness on that front.
but I highly doubt the market is "minuscule" in ED. That's just a gut though-- I highly doubt the third party grinders would be so sucessful if there wasn't money to be made.

Anyway.. Did I respond to your question? I'm really not trying to be evasive, or to deflect you in any way.

Actually I know a lot of people that can own an Anaconda but can't fly it at all, or any ship for that matter (they still use the docking computer). It is kind of like getting high ranks in any game, all you need to do is keep playing and you will get there, does not mean you are any good at it.

Ahh, I had seen those threads before now that you mention it.

But as you say, it's not even in the same ballpark as what is actually going on with Star Citizen.

yup.. there is a grindyness to the game, and anyone with a lot of time on their hands can get triple elite fairly easily. I've seen tons of people that have kitted-out 'condas that can't whip through the slot. But, like I've always said, to each their own. I let people play they want to play, and that's what's so great about SC and FD-- the openness. life is far easier if you just play your own game and don't judge how other people play.

Let's try again, it's Friday so I've been a little relaxed.

stay on topic - which is NOT, I REPEAT, NOT ELITE DANGEROUS
Cut out the personal attacks

The usual way: by claiming that they're either coming in [next half year] or that they're already in the game, gaaah, stop complaining and making him upset!

…and then hoping that this will delay the matter for another half a year or so.

they had a REALLY cool video on the prospector earlier in the week :) doesn't that mean the functionality can be integrated ?

They had a really cool "Pupil to Planet" video in 2015. I don't see any of that functionality integrated into the game.
