That said though, if I absolutely have to, I'll grind out that combat rank to get Lori unlocked just to improve my exploration game experience. Hamsters in a wheel and maze and all that...

Yessss. with 12 modded componants on my exploraconda ive sort of noticed that, ive had a good look at the BP and can quite happily absorb the counterbalancing factors.
Imagine the time you would have saved without the irrelevant extended waiting time

The poor boy cannot wrap his head around that explorers don't have a hive mind, but are individuals who are interested in different sorts of gameplay. When the first engineer scanner rumours hit the forum, as many explorers were happy with it, as there were those who don't give the engineers the time of day.
Which is where his confusion is born. Check his posts, he treats explorers as a homogeneous entity, bless him

True their are plenty of explorers that want an 64T sensor package on there ship. This may get some actually interested in visiting the engeneers. but however you chew this apple its a positive at least you now get a choice.
