Wait, wait, wait! So even when you`ve bought everything you still have to buy the Beta?

Do you remember the days companies used to pay people to beta test?
I almost applied for a job doing that once, local company did game testing until it went out of business.
It went out of business because gamers are putting people out of work by paying to do that job, just so they can see the new toys "first".

So weird. Wonder how many gamers are out of work and miss the irony of a job they could have been paid for, they now pay to do.

A ven diagram of modern gamers and the most gullible consumers on the planet would feature a depressingly large overlap...And no, I'm not entirely exempt from that sad group myself.

People don't pay to test, they pay to see the new stuff, BETA was always originally a bonus for the KS backers and PB backers.

I really don't care that FD are trying to make a buck out of it, it's a free world, if you don't like it, don't buy it, you will at some point get it anyway.

I'm saving my money for the Season 3 (or whatever) Alpha access offer....:D

I'm sentimentally attached onto the old bugs anyway, like "Hidden Contract" is my current favorite.

Other companies usually provide free Early Access or even incentivize users with in-game goods to compensate for their time and effort to stress test the pre-release builds to the largest extent possible. It's really no big deal, it's optional.

Folk in the beta who've reported 0 bugs complaining about the injustice of having to pay to report bugs!

You have to laugh. :)

also they would have to invest alot more money in the beta servers if they would open it to everybody so have no problem they charge a few bucks for it. Most people do it cause they want to play with new features early, and a few do it to help the game get better

There is no gun in your head telling you to get the BETA access. Regardless of your complains and exaggerations.
Honestly, don't like it, don't buy it.
The only way any company reacts to a practice is when people stops buying their stuff. If that is your intention a less self entitlement and a more pragmatical approach could have gotten you more support.
But now, you are an annoyance.

No, it doesnt. It doesnt include:
lifetime season pass (i owe)
beta access (i owe)
game extras (i owe in most, you can buy it in store)

hope it helped :D

I Owe, I owe, it's off to work I go,
Well, we work, work, work
Well, we work in our jobs the whole day through
And when the tax-man's done we might have a buck or two....

Yep. You pay them to find problems with their product you already paid for.

Hilarious.

You aren't really paying them to test, though. You have no obligation to report bugs once you've purchased beta access. People mostly pay to get a sneak peek at upcoming features.

Ethical bankruptcy at its finest... Or worst.

It's called capitalisme, it's not perfect but it works as intended. In these parts of the world we still use that system and until someone makes a new system that with proof works better, that is what we got :)

Ok so I bought everything, the Horizons season Pass, the Commander Deluxe Edition... That includes everything.

But it don`t include the beta, that`s what I`m going to get anyway?

So I have to pay extra for a Beta of what i`m going to get anyway and already paid for?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA[haha]

Great joke. [up] Excellent humour.

So how do I get this Beta without having to pay extra for it? Seriously now.
Easy. Wait until the early access Beta is finished and then you will be playing a beta version of 2.3 for the next month or two until FD throw in a bug fix and balance patch. That's how it works.

Nobody else is going to test it. If we don't test, it gets released as is. It's paying them for doing their work for them.

It's like getting your oil changed, and then being charged to check the dipstick yourself before you leave. It's sad.

However, I'm a free market capitalist. There's one born every minute. Just glad I'm not one of them.

Yes. I'm the biggest free market capitalist there is. Doesn't change how sad it is lol. I applaud FD for convincing people this is OK.

5 dollars and you get It for presumably the whole season... I don't get it. Just skip out on a drink at starbucks.

Maybe Starbucks will charge you extra to make sure the coffee is hot enough.

Tl-dr: The answer to the thread is YES you have to pay for it.

The reason: Kickstarter had one of the rewards as beta access, its an additional (albeit low) source of funding for FDev and making it free would result in all the extra purchases being meaningless.

Horizons as a product was sold as a pre-order with and without beta access originally until release.

Some betas are open and available to all like 1.4 CQC was for the last part. Most betas are closed access. This has been discussed at length on many many many other threads.

You cannot get the beta without paying.

(Devlilsh grin) Think of it as a donation to the Dev fund with your $ and then another donation of your time and patience as a tester. Yes, feel proud, you are a true blue software testor!

And pretend that all the bugs you found and communicated are being fixed if not here then on another parallel field of consciousness involving a simultaneous ED guyme

....why stop there? Also pretend that for every bug you help squash, one actually legitimate QoL enhancement has been passed by the bored of ED for implementation!

Now go get em tiger

Maybe it's time to invest in some FD shares, they are good at making money it seems :D

No Starbucks wont do that, because someone can get burned and then they will get sued BECAUSE the coffee was HOT (never heard of hot coffee before) :D
