Elite Dangerous Bootcamp - How to Bulletproof Utility Ships

Nice guide there.

I use a similar build on a trade cutter, but instead I'm running all mine launchers, with ion disruptors and reverb cascades. If the first volley hits, this usually spells doom for them, as they'll lose shields, and then hardpoints will also be destroyed in the process as the mines blow directly in their face.

Cutter can pretty much outtrun anything :D

LOL, yes how dare I :D

Engineering is really not that bad, I have a guide on how to reach G5 very quickly (sort of like a work around, you can see it on my channel), with this Type 7 it took me like 2 days to fully engineer it, using my own guides. The hardest parts to engineering is litteraly unlocking the engineers themselves, after that it's smooth sailing

whta does 2 days mean in inagme time? Also, true beginners will just need a laod more time. Most tasks we do com naturally because we are fully used to the game. But in the end it's a good guide for PVP scared people.

Yeh I think having access in the first place is the hard work as opening up some of those engineers for grade 5 (isn't Palin required for thrusters? Many, many days work). Maybe you could do a cheaper version video for the actual beginners, or is it just a case don't fly in open. :)

How does the build work without engineering? Useless?

All these videos seem quite false to me, its always just one ship shown doing the interdiction with no containment missile and a attacker who can't mass lock you; be far more inclined to believe these vids if the interdictors were a gang of 4 including cutter to mass lock and containment missile to stop high-wake, that would seem more genuine.

This video is again excellent and inspiring. The bootcamp series was what finally got me started with engineers and so far Iwas having more fun than I thought I would have.

I have tried out parts of the game that I hadn't so far. Such as doing mission types for Sirius Corp that I never tried like liberation missions. Those were quite fun.

I DID cry a huge halleluja when I could finally unload those 25 modular terminals. And cruising around for high emissions USS could still win the most boring gameplay ever award. But apart from that I'm fine now with upgrading my ships.

Mind you you don't HAVE to go for g5 upgrades if it feels like grinding. Even g3 will give you a huge difference and those you CAN usually get with mats you acquired during normal gameplay.

A bulletproofed T9 miner could be my next project when I'm done with my Anaconda now!!

Well a very similar build would work on a hauler as well, it depends by what you mean "cheaper". I guess a player should decide when they are ready to come out in the Open, I made this build to give people means to protect themselves when they do.

A non engineered ship can be destroyed very quickly, even if its a Corvette or Anaconda

How long does it actually take to say get G5 thrusters from Palin? Easy sure, time consuming I very much assume so.

Thanks for the video :) You have in the video 4 shock mines but the loadout screen shows two. Did you use different configurations in the video?

That's explained in the video..... Which you watched right? :)

Ships without engineering are not useless.

An un-engineered T7 probably is from what MassiveD is saying.

Great video MD. [up]

I just want to mention the often forgotten Fast FDS Boot mod. It can reduce your boot time by up to 80%(G5). It's perfect for short trade.

You'll be out of Dodge before the attacker is properly instanced. :)

Edit: Faster boot sequence is also a possible secondary effect on the long range mod. Keep an eye on it. The roll may be a keeper, even if you don't hit the best range.

Have you seen my video about power leveling with any engineer? If not have a look, using that method, to go from grade 0 to grade 5 is roughly about 4 hours. And not only with Palin, most engineers in fact

Thanks I will have a look, I meant to watch that video next last night but didn't get chance hehe. I assume its not a 5 minute job to actually unlock Palin though, I guess that is where the time sink will be. :)

Yeah, some engineers are painful to unlock, but once you do, you have them forever.

Think of them like getting mini achievements :p
