Furthermore, i don't know what's the exact laws around the others nation? But in my home, under direct threat (can be) enough to justify self defense (means equal or lesser force, than the threat). Now, we don't know what was the victim intentions was how far he was willing to go? But we know un1corn unnecessarily destroyed him, since in the moment he decided to run, the fight was over.
This is the true coup de grace, and not to fire on the enemy who threatens you.

Seriously though guys. It's a ruddy Viper Mk IV vs a Cobra Mk III.
Fights in Elite really don't get much fairer than that.
I'm done trying to put blame on people.
So now I'm just going to go all Neanderthal logic. Here's the jist:
I interdicted. He opened fire. I got annoyed by this. I returned fire. He launched missiles. I gave him a fright by going stealth. He ran. I decided to show him the error of his ways by sending him to the re-buy.
It was all in Open, so it's all legitimate gameplay. I have done nothing wrong.

OP, another voice here saying well done! I think most players who know enough about the game to actively choose Open do so with actual hopes of meeting players like yourself, who add something to the game and will have a fair interaction - even if the outcome is not always positive. I would certainly welcome the challenge of a fair PvP pirate taking me on, I always weigh up my options and live with whatever decision I make.

Your living in the past! When i first bought the game i thought you could do whatever you wanted in this universe wide sandbox, including PVP without the need for a reason but that isn't the case sir...Any form of PVP in griefing period!

What's the problem with it? This is what talking with each others about right? And no, i'm not replying to everything. I leave the fools and idiots out, so as bad debates and the finished debates where the final word spoken, nothing left to say.
It's over when it's over. And it's over when both party had this final word! But not any time sooner.

Killing another commander is not griefing...no matter what ship they are in.
Hunting down other commanders even with the RP of a murderous psychopath is acceptable and the devs have repeatedly confirmed this.
"Griefing" would be when a player repetitively kills the same commander over and over again usually with some form of verbal attack. This may constitute harassment but only in very extreme cases.
If you do not like the "cutthroat" galaxy that is E: D then just do not go into open. Players should not be restricted in their actions by anyone, especially by players that do not seem to understand the concept of open play which the devs themselves have put forward.
David Braben has been killed many times for "no reason"...you don't see him talking about "consensual PvP" and other such silliness...

Have to agree with what others have said about the Viper IV... I've always viewed it as a dedicated combat ship. Still, it was skulking around a CG though... so it was likely a pirate or a bounty hunter. Either way, totally fair game for a notorious brigand such as yourself

It's a cute skit, but it doesn't invalidate the idea that potential victims should practice good personal and situational awareness in order to mitigate the risk that they may be harmed by others.
