NO ONE IS ASKING FOR ANYTHING FOR FREE.
Why can.you people not get this through your heads?
We PAID full price for this game. Many of us, twice. Ergo, we want the WHOLE game we PAID FOR. Cosmetics are part of a full price game. Cosmetics should be available in game. Period.

Like most free games, Elite features a cash shop and repetitive, grind oriented game play focused on stimulating reward centers through RNG rewards designed to enhance the chances of addiction in the same way slot machine gambling does. After all, it was the video game industry that taught casinos how to really game those machines.
Unlike free to play games, Elite also charges full price for its cheap, mobile game grind experience.

I linked to one of those polls in the OP.
"Should there be cosmetics that can only be purchased out of game for real money?"
The option that won: "Yes! Some cosmetics can be "purchase only" "
Do you honestly think that when people voted for that option, they knew FDev would put 99% of them in the store?

With you up to here, then...
This is where you're going wrong. You are creating your own definition of what constitutes the product for which you paid, then suggesting you have been ripped off in some way because the product does not actually contain some aspect of your imaginary inventory.
Your statement that 'cosmetics are part of a full price game' is demonstrably untrue because they're not part of this one. I paid full price for it by the way but guess what? I did't pay for any cosmetics because none were included with the purchased product. The fact you may wish they were, or feel that they should have been doesn't actually equate to you being entitled to receive them.
inb4 someone calls me a shill again because I actually understand what I'm buying.
inb4 I don't give a frak again.
Tell you what mate. You highlight where I said anything about 'full AAA priced games' in my post and I will.
I think the OPs primary gripe here isn't that there should be free content, but rather the cosmetic content provided is of such basic quality that asking for any money at all is a little insulting when you think that basic color swaps or built into just about another other game with customization options. I love the frontier store. Ive spent maybe 25 USD on cosmetics, but I agree that there needs to be more effort from the art department. I feel like I got my money's worth for my asp pharoah skin. Not so much for my plain white corvette skin.
You mean you want to have skins that you will use for free becasue you don't want to buy any.
"I've said this before on here - some of you could do with having a look at games that really are designed to milk money from their players. You'd soon see the very significant differences between them and this game."
You're suggesting comparing "money milking" games to ED. I'm asking for a relevant comparison.
My main problem with it isn't the questionable quality (which is a problem as well). My gripe is that having all the cosmetics in the store robs the game of content that could be fun and rewarding. I wouldn't have any problem with the store if they implemented unlockable cosmetics or the sort. Hell, make it a part of 2.4, I'd be happy with that.
TOn the other hand, my being fed up with FDev endlessly milking their fans for every red cent while refusing to add depth or engaging game play, DOES mean they won't see another purchase or any further support from me until they change their ways.
I'm voting against this design direction. I'm doing it with my wallet. And I'm not alone. That's something FDev should take note of.
Of course, once PS4 sales inevitably disappoint, things will have to change. I look for free to play to happen soon.
Unlockables eh? So you want to grind for cosmetics? Make a poll about that please, I'm off to change my pants in preparation.![]()

Talking about Cosmetics? How about peralescent paintjobs and in the more metallic hue from the same thing. Iridium coating? Gold, silver, chrome, iridium, bronze, copper. Platinum? More shinier cleaner silver.
Right after FD make some adjustment's in how the color palette handled! Because now, the tactical cobalt looks like a purplish blue in game.
About iridium? It can take many hue this is one of it.
You seem to have interpreted my earlier comment as trying to draw a comparison which I wasn't in fact trying to draw. I merely said that there are games out there which are designed to separate people from their money in highly efficient ways and that this wasn't one of them.
