FD please give us a sharpening setting iracing just did and wow what a difference to clarity!

So are you saying that when your Rift DK2 was running Ed in extended mode, SweetFX worked in ED in VR and that you found it 100% better?

Yup!
I used to love exploring because everything was so beautiful, now not so much so don't do much exploring. Now I mainly do combat!

I used SweetFx/Reshade in a couple of titles (DCS,Skyrim and such) in non-vr. Even looked at comparison vids in ED, although I never bothered to use with Ed as I didn't see a large enough improvement, but that was me and it wasn't a VR/DK2 environment. Since injectors such as Reshade have not been made to work with the Rift in direct mode (as far as I know), I hope FD can give us some tools that allow for us to adjust color, sharpness and alike to our "individual" perceptions of what looks good.

There are concerns, though. I point to the fix (somewhat) of the color banding issue. Dithering reduced significantly the banding, but there is a noticeable lost of color. If we get the tools to adjust that color to increase it's vibrancy, might we not also re-introduce that banding? Not saying that I don't want the tools to try, but I believe as RR was getting at, their will likely be trade-offs in a game with so much contrasting color.

In addition, in IRacing , any improvements are welcomed but when I compare it to Dirt Rally, which didn't start out as a VR title either, DR looks so much sharper even before increasing pixel density. I am not complaining, though, as IRacing only recently ported to DX11 and VR. It is exciting to see Dirt Rally come out of nowhere with a VR update, that many consider to make it (myself included) a pre-eminent VR title. I am hopeful that with further VR attention by FD and some decent tools we will see more improvements in ED.

Gotta be kidding?

Their effort and attention to detail for VR is immense.

I definitely concur. It was a video Dave Braben did describing his experience in the Rift that got me excited to play in VR. After that and a couple of pilots describing their orgasms in an A10 cockpit in DCS and order was in. I'm no programmer, but given some of the crap out there written for VR, it seems to me FD has done a wonderful job so far in implementing it into a game that started out as a non-vr title. I am confident they aren't finished, yet.
