People threatening to quit the game

LOL.. yeah.. The thing that amuses me is the folks who claim to have quit playing and are still posting here. I've enumerated, in the past, a couple of things that would make me quit the game even though I have a LEP, but they haven't happened yet and if they did I sure wouldn't hang around here preaching how sour the grapes were. That way surely lies madness. If I'm going to quit a game, I'd just, you know.. quit it?

If, for some stupid reason, I did indulge in that insanity I'd expect the rest of you to do as I do with all the others that descend into that kind of trolling. Plonk 'em straight in the killfile.

I understand the feeling, when you've spent 2000hrs learning a mechanic or building a ship and Fdev go and arbitrarily change the way it all works.

Haven't played myself for quite some time...but it always remains installed, and updated. Occupying myself with other things while watching how it progresses. In fact..I'll be thoroughly distracted starting tomorrow, as my Wacom Cintiq 22HD arrives! Whoohoo!

After 2000+ hours the game is tedious.
I'm checking the current beta then will be off doing something more engaging than ED.

I don't have 2000+ hours played, just week and a couple of days on the clock and I'm here since Premium Beta started... but oddly enough I seem to play ED only throughout the beta periods.
Check in what's new and then not bother with it till next beta starts... and so on.

FDev like criticism, they like to know why people are leaving the game, the only reason why people are so passionate is because they cared and invested so much of their time and money... And if all the forums are just full of praise well, how will FDev know they are about to jump off cliff and commit developer suicide, if no-one is able to give an honest opinion as to where they think FDev are getting it wrong.

My issue is: fine, you don't like the game (apparently) & you plan to quit (apparently).....but did you REALLY have to post your decision on the forums? Here, have 50 cents, call someone who actually *cares*! :p

Yeah, it's the modern world. Apparently if it isn't on the internet somewhere it's not real or something.

I'm not planning on "quitting" the game, but at the same time I'm not buying any more paint packs and I'm not buying Season 3 unless it contains some major exploration mechanics development. And if I don't get S3 then I'll most likely be "taking a break" from the game until Frontier does start doing something with exploration mechanics. If that never happens, then I would have in essence "quit the game", lol.

I'm not happy with the development direction for Elite, but I love the franchise, and yeah I'm one of those people who have spent hundreds of hours playing the game so far so it ain't like I didn't get my money's worth. I'm just not spending any more of my money until the game starts delivering stuff I want in it, that's all.

All I can say is...

Don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

I decided to quit this forum, since a certain slice of the customer cake (age and country not clarified) always feels the need to play the 'entitled' card.

The ARMA forum, initially Operation Flashpoint, was an oasis before the game became big. Cue the mongrols...

What I find amusing is the number of people that talk about how terrible the game is and how broken it is and how they're quitting the game. Meanwhile they have 2000+ hours in the game and are clearly majorly addicted. It's like watching a heroin addict ing to their dealer that the product sucks and they're going to quit. Yeah, sure you will and I'm going to be the next president.

Not quite sure why its amusing. Every game has its use by date.......I've played close to 2000 hours in other games over the years and then one day I got bored with them and moved on to something else. ED isn't the only game in the world you know.

This is every game forum ever. There is always a contingent of people who hang their entire entertainment needs and even sometimes their self-worth on a single game, and then are of course ruined when the game doesn't support that level of neediness at every turn. They stay forever, slowly resenting more and more the fact that they're not getting what they need instead of simply going to find what they need elsewhere.

It's like staying in a bad relationship to avoid being alone, instead of using the 500000 available dating sites or even going to the grocery store in a nice shirt. Much simpler for some people to just stay with someone they hate, and game relationships seem to fall into this same dynamic for many people.

So very much this^

It helps to have slightly insane leadership who come up with oddball activities that might not even relate to game progression. Yes, I'm looking at you, Arc and Big Pappa. ;)

And very much this!!! ^
