Mobius population

Sometimes I laugh ....realy REALY laugh. I log into open ....head to a CG in my t7...cruse around untill.....u guessed it... FDL behind me!! Do I run? Do I fight? Nope I laugh and laugh as the log out counter counts down from 10...9 hahaha 8 hahahahahaha7.....and log into mobius to chat to people hahahahahahahahahahha [big grin] /wave

Or you could learn to set up your T7 so it can easily evade an FDL.

I really don't approve of this sort of thing... but it is funny... and gave me a giggle.

At this point I feel like I'm posting off-topic while attempting to post on-topic.

I'm in Mobius PVE about 80% of my time, solo about 18% and open for about 2%.

Based on my limited time in open, I do think there are more people in open.

However, I see many, many people in Mobius PVE. I ran into a random CMDR in the Spirograph nebula over 1000ly from the bubble. I ran into a random CMDR while exploring the "Dav's Hope" settlement. I've run into a few CMDRs in different random HazRES, away from CGs or "special" systems. I saw dozens of CMDRs at the different alien ruin sites when I visited them. I see many multiple CMDRs at every CG, most engineer bases, and most of the "special" systems(Aditi, Fehu, Quince, Sothis, 17 Draconis, Shu Babassi, etc). So, point is, regardless of the actual population, I don't have any problem being instanced with plenty of other CMDRs.

And just to echo one thing that was said earlier, most people in the PG have been very friendly. Easy to form wings, exchange an "o7" or whatever. I joined Mobius early in my game because I was "scared" of open. I've progressed well beyond that, but I still play in Mobius because I like the people and interactions better than open.

Easy way is to just put 4 pips to sys and start the log out timer as soon as the interdiction starts. If you have any shields at all, an FDL simply won't have the time to take out a reasonably sized and protected ship before the timer hits 0. That is how you set up any ship to evade an FDL. (works spectacularly well with a cutter)

A huge beam and 4 packhound launchers would beg to differ :)

Fair enough. Out of interest, do you do this as a matter of course?
If say, I came up behind you in SC and sent you a pirate message, yarr! and then started interdiction would you play the game and rp or would you initiate the inter-dimensional drive anyway?

I'm honestly curious, what do you guys play the game for? Once you're sitting on billions of credits, amassed after hours and hours of mindlessly driving from system to system in complete safety, after you've bought and modded the ship(s) of your dreams, after you've completely crushed countless fleets of NPC ships, do you just quit the game at that point?

I can only speak for myself, but I have fun interacting with other commanders in a stress free environment.

If you initiate some sort of contact, I am willing to play along at that point. I will still prep for a fight/flee in a more conventional manner. The inter-dimensional drive is reserved for no contact player interdictions (gankers/griefers/psycho killers). An actual attempt at piracy is fine by me. Because I know that any decent pirate is after my cargo and not my life.

I do everything in the game(other than PVP of course). And when I bump into a hollow rectangle I say "Hi" and ask them what they're working on. Depending on the answer maybe we go off and work on things together. Or maybe we just go our separate ways.

the thing is, if you DONT exploit any of the get rich quick schemes what you listed above takes a LONG time.

i am probably pushing 1500 hrs in and my anaconda is not fully outfitted yet and i am not ranked to get either a cutter or a corvette so that will take some time - as again i am not doing the donation dance at one of the handful of sites where you can modeswap and get tons of those.

and billions of credits? i wont be seeing that in my bank balance assuming my current rate of earnings for another 5000hrs or so... so ask me again then if i am still playing and i will let you know

in my ideal world.... (and i do not think ED will go this way but it WAS what i was expecting back listening to DB back in the day)

i imagined scenarios where a base would be under a massive assault from the thargoids. they would have much better ships than us and it would be a desperate fight to save the station, every human in the instance all fighting together for the future of humanity against a superior foe.

just because i have no interest in PvP does not mean i do not want some great multiplayer play, and ED was advertised as being mostly about the pilots federation members all being part of the same "clan" and largely working together, NOT against each other.

Plus you have made a lot of assumptions. I have been playing for about maybe a little more than a year, and I have made no where near a billion credits total. I have most of the ships I like, but none are max'd out. I just don't have a desire at my age to play that hard, nor do I have anything to prove, to myself or anyone else. Just want to fly the ships, do whatever mission or CG I want, and not have to worry about someone using me for their entertainment. And for some of us, the higher ranked NPC ships are quite hard enough, I can't kill them all at will as you seem to suggest.

I would definitely play along. I'd perv on your kick ship....then probably try to run while fighting you off. Then...you would have every right to kill me. O7 now THAT is fun gameplay. I would run coz even if I dropped my cargo there's no guarantee you would leave me alive so I've got nothing to loose by fighting/running

This is very very different than just being blasted out of space for no reason. I can't fight. I'm not good at it. I know I know get gud or whatever but. Running from a guy that wants my cargo is very differant from running from a guy that just wants to kill me :)

To be honest, anything I want that does not involve a confrontation with another player. Bounty hunting, smuggling, trading, exploring (working on that one). Sometimes with but mostly without others. As for 'complete safety', I don't think so. Oh and I don't mod my ships. Waste of time IMO.
