Closing the circle

Congratulations to Cruento! Amazing feat. Are you heading back out soon, or will you stick to the bubble for a time? I've been in the bubble for a week and am already planning my next trip out. A few short-term trips out to find non-procedural stars has maintained my patience, and hopefully will continue to do so until 2.3 is released.

If you have ED Discovery running and get the star scan result read to you by the artificial voice, it says something like "Habitable zone 707 to 1411 light seconds". My ED Discovery verbosity is set to 3.

If you ALT+TAB and go to ED Discovery, check the history, select the scan of the star and place your mouse cursor on the image of the star below the list of events. A pop-up window will show the habitable zone among other information.

Edit: I took a screenshot for you.

Ah, thanks for this but I guess I should have mentioned I'm an XBox One player and really can't use the tool since I can't upload my scans. :(

I want a Clipper and I'll want to engineer it for a bit more jump range. So I've got Felicity ranked up (via a quick local nebula tour) and now I'm working on Baron so I can buy the ship, we'll see how far I get with that before I have to run away again.

Wow, this is amazing! Well done, CMDR! And here's me thinking that getting to Colonia was a big feat (I'm almost there, halfway to Polo Harbour!). :)

Following Ouroboros

With Iain's approval I've submitted a GalNet article to record this momentus achievement, because I don't know if anyone else did.

Short version (to get near 150 words):
The first recorded circumnavigation of the galactic outer rim has been completed by CMDR Cruento Mucrone in the Cobra MkIII, "Silence Unbounded". Few pilots have completed the galactic circumnavigation and this is the first time a pilot has diligently followed the outer rim. With only a 25.7ly range, Cruento successfully visited the tips of all four spiral arms of the Milky Way.

Travelling for 557 days over more than 650,000ly, Cruento visited 29,662 systems. Incredibly, during this journey Cruento met two other CMDRs by chance, including CMDR Draco in an Imperial Eagle almost 65,000ly from Sol.

Remarkably Silence Unbounded suffered only moderate degradation during the expedition, "Hull 78%, powerplant 79%, everything else that matters 85% or more. The damage was caused by a mixture of coming in hot to rings, scooping without due care and attention and failing to give L dwarfs a wide enough berth!"

When asked their plans after completing such an epic voyage, CMDR Cruento Mucrone reflected, "My Cobra has become the Galaxy Serpent," then "I want a Clipper and I want to engineer it!"

Long version:
The first recorded circumnavigation of the galactic outer rim has been completed by CMDR Cruento Mucrone in the Cobra MkIII, "Silence Unbounded". Few pilots have completed the galactic circumnavigation and this is the first time a pilot has diligently followed the outer rim. With only a 25.7ly range, Cruento successfully visited the tips of all four spiral arms of the Milky Way - the Sagittarius-Carina, the Scutum-Centaurus, the Outer and the Perseus Arms.

Travelling for 557 days over more than 650,000ly, Cruento visited 29,662 systems and is credited with discovering almost all of them. The most memorable systems were "The Earth-like world under a neutron sun" and "My furthest system from Sol; now I'm in the 65k club".

Incredibly, during this journey Cruento met two other CMDRs by chance, including CMDR Draco in an Imperial Eagle almost 65,000ly from Sol. Cruento also arranged remarkable rendezvous with CMDR Chiggy Vonrictofen at the four confluences of the galactic arms.

Upon returning to the bubble CMDR Cruento docked at Cantor Terminal in the Santjalan system, welcomed by many friends and the Social Eleu Progressive Party, well known for their support of explorers. Remarkably Silence Unbounded had suffered only moderate degradation during the expedition, "Hull 78%, PP 79%. Everything else that matters 85% or more. A mixture of coming in hot to rings, scooping without due care and attention and failing to give L dwarfs a wide enough berth!"

When asked their plans after completing such an epic voyage, CMDR Cruento Mucrone reflected, "My Cobra has become the Galaxy Serpent." Although one suspects that they may crave more creature comforts, "I want a Clipper and I want to engineer it!" admitted Cruento.

Right on Commander!
