ED Steamcharts "4,000" active players. Pathetic

Dude.

I think people are just saying Steam stats aren't a good measure.

No need to go all melodramatic.

We are not the ones proclaiming "the death of ED" here.

Steam stats is the best "absolute" measure that we have of the current total player activity in Elite because, we simply do not have the stats for the amount of players using the Frontier launcher. That's why people use steam stats and because 60%+ of the sales for Elite Dangerous originated from steam, so that being said, you'd expect the majority of players to be from steam.

Carebears/Elite white knights like alternative facts, so they'll use dank words like "misrepresentation", "hypothesis" or "extrapolation" to have a better argument, too bad it doesn't make it any stronger. Sometime I imagine them with a google dictionary next to them.

Oh nothing like a "self-destruct button" to any kind of credibility here eh?
Isn't there some noob in a Sidewinder somewhere?

I'm always kind of amazed at how unaware of Steam or outright anti-Steam this forum is. It shows the forums detachment from the larger PC gaming community.

Are you for real?

How many do you know of? 100? 1000?

10,000?

Still insignificant compared to the Power Of The Force.

Fixed it.

I find that many Steam peoples are a bit flighty with games, some play the same ones constantly others are buying what they like the look of when they see it, play it for a while till the next thing takes their fancy. Thing with statistics, unless you know all the criteria they are using to get the stats and all that nonsense take them with a pinch or two of salt. I carry around some for emergencies.

If you're claiming my "90% have either quit the game or gone dark by switching launcher. " is a misrep, then please state any other explanation you have.

I asked him on page 29, still waiting for an answer.

Do you want to play dodgeball with me JuntiFour?

They are the "ONLY" measure, but an invalid one due to the amount of assumptions and the fundamental nature of the underlying metric.

It is false reasoning to say that just because it is the ONLY metric that it is a valid one.

Arguably, it is irrelevant whether other people like a game or not. It only matters if we as individuals like it, and if not what we (as individuals) would like to see changed. Just because people do not agree with a given change does not mean that the game itself is at risk.

Well your claim that if you don't play for two weeks you've left the game is a misrepresentation for a start. It's either that, or, let's be frank, a bit naive.

I knew you were going to use "the 2 last weeks" for your argument, I was like I need to prepare a strong combo-breaker, but then I realized it would be futile to explain you why steamspy has a median line with the dates at the bottom between 2015 and 2017.

You are welcome to dismantle my argument, steamspy use the steamAPI, the steamAPI display absolute accurate numbers of the total numbers of players buying their products.

It depresses me that I can tell you that screengrab was taken on the Everon Airfield facing in a southerly direction.

I swear, I don't need a map/compass to navigate the OFP/ArmA stock maps.

lets break that to u again...
some of that buy number is from ppl that bought the game from frontier store and link it to steam...aka 1 half baked number...
and the other half baked number is that not all the users launch the game from steam
but i guess u cant understand it ...

if they deliver good update or content sales will raise no matter how big active playebase was before.

I think is this a long way from the truth. Every player who has paid for ED and been disappointed is a player less likely to pay Frontier for a good update.

This was proven by Season 2. Sales were flattening out when Frontier cut off the data feed. At that point, less than 20% of ED buyers had bought Season 2.

You are not worth my time...

forex... http://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/09/forex-broker-scam.asp

let us know when you can understand 10k financials, gaap, and basic analysis...

I take it your link to "Is Your Forex Broker A Scam?" is trying to imply inventing.com, the source of this Frontier cash flow statement, is a scam.

Let us know when you can be bothered to read the accounts on Frontier's own website. They show the same cash flow figures. Cash down by about £1.8million in each of the last three accounts.

The only 'fact' that Steam numbers convey is how many people who use Steam to launch are playing and in no way reflect the actual amount of people playing at any given time.

Therefore, incomplete numbers, and in being incomplete are inaccurate.
