Sure she's made some bad decisions out grief from slaughtered family but she's a good person and has learned to be more caring on her current jihad. I think we're forgetting the important thing here, she's sincerely following her heart.

I don't need it on my FDL but for my Python it's ideal. Prob be handy for my Vette but not so important.

By todays standards Charles Manson would win X-Factor, horrendous backstory, just wants to sing and follow his dreams.
I don't know if the political level, those powerplay cutouts, have any clue as to whats going on. I'd guess the deep state or permanent bureaucrats of all three power blocks or at least knowing elements within each are working together or are at least in agreement as symbolized by the identified meta-alloy thiefs. There's no hint Blaine has even told the Emperor, it's Blaine that really runs the shop and Kahina's only 2 degrees from him so I'll assume the others are the same distance from their real boss whether they know it or not. The INRA is probably whispering in all three of their ears.
Sounds like you've lost integrity on your beams so they are more susceptible to damage through overheating. Might be worth storing them & trying some replacements, engineered Step by step, to see if it happens again & why.

Slightly off topic, but just adding to the efficient beams discussion, I have Efficient Weapon 5 on all three large beams, on one of my three Pythons. If you are using Inara, it is out of date. See below

It doesn't matter whether Salome is being manipulated (by the Dark Wheel or any other); what matters is getting the truth about "the serious xxxx out there", why it happened, who has been seriously misleading the galactic population for decades and why it has been covered up.
It does help that she's hot, however I suspect she and Aisling are "involved".

She knew fully well the moral shot comings of her own family. She still reclaimed Prism. A system stolen by the Empire and the Loren family, form the locals that rebelled.
She lead the slaughter of the natives and personally executed their leaders. All this was done to secure the Empire it's most precious source of tantalum.
Her life has lead her into conflict with those that are even worse than her. That has made her a useful tool for those that want secrets exposed. Nothing more.
I'm not a massive fan of combat in game, but I do like to participate from time to time. When I first tried a python in CZs, it seemed terrible, but recently, it's served me well. I think the issue was that the canopy kept breaking, but with a couple of module reinforcements, it's been great. I used a build with 5 pulse lasers and find that extremely satisfying due to the large capacitor, and efficient mods. Can take a.Conda's shields out very quickly.
The g5 thruster mods help too.

I'm not one to visit the sins of the father on his children. The massacre of Federation colonists on Prism was carried out under the orders of Algreb Loren. That particular sin lies squarely on his shoulders and it seems that the surviving victims of that slaughter aptly punished him for his crimes. An eye for an eye, tooth for tooth the Loren dynasty was brought to it's knees and nearly extinguished.
Her own actions to reclaim the Loren family's rule over Prism resulted in the deaths of thousands. She may not have directly given the orders that resulted in these deaths but she still can't deny responsibility for them.
She is an Imperial politician ... more concerned with her own status and honor than the lives of us small, insignificant beings who fill the background around her. We're just here to serve her purposes or be brushed aside.
Her experiences may of course have changed her, like Halsey going from peasant bomber to aid worker, but I doubt it.
I think she is fueled by the desire for revenge and to a degree, curiosity. She seem a selfish as ever.
