The typical lack of information that kills Elite

Here we go again...

I wish that, rather than endlessly micromanaging the entire galaxy's contents via direct Dev intervention and hand-written CGs, they finally get around to actually getting the galaxy's contents to evolve and adapt procedurally. That way, we wouldn't need CGs, we wouldn't need to wait for a Dev to do anything, we could just go and sort out the problem ourselves (or cause the problem in the first place!).

Once again, Frontier's inability to keep players updated about what's happening is most likely killing the game. This time it's about Colonia. Frontier has vaguely said there will be a community goal for Colonia to improve services and stations.
After that hint, complete radio silence. No info about when during April and more importantly from where commodities will be brought. Colonia is so far out from the bubble it takes the typical player weeks to get there. Not knowing if or when there will be new things happening means you don't know where you're going to tell other players to go.
I still hope Frontier will snap out of this, stop micromanaging combat balance and start making the content interesting. I don't have great hopes, though. None of the last 10+ player named faction knows when or where they're arriving in Colonia.

Probably won't start untll after beta is finished. Seems reasonable.

Can't wait to drop into a conflict zone, select human, watch all the Thargoid ships turn red and then go pew-pew to collect my bounty.

It will be exactly like all the other sterile, storyless pew-pew conflict zones, but with THARGOIDS to pew-pew at!

That's my big fear about Thargoids: that this is all they will amount to. It would make this game a laughing stock in the games media.

Well, if you want, really really want, you can make the trip in a few hours, let´s say 8 ingame hours, via Neutron Highway. But the trip is much nicer if you take your time for some sightseeing, i give you that.

Also, there is something like a small population in and around Colonia already - could be FD thought of these folks when talking about the CG. CEI and stuff. The factions are already here, just fyi. ;)

There is no lack of commuication, there is a lack of information from your side. What could have been if you asked a simple question instead of your rant?

I am one of the more active CMDRs in Colonia, thank you very much. I've probably taken the trip to Colonia well over 30 times by now.
This is not about me, it's about trying to salvage the interest from the few other CMDRs who were interested in Colonia a few months ago. The ones who are losing interest because of the lack of information. The faction I'm supporting in Colonia had well over 50 interested CMDRs a few months ago. Now it's getting to the point where I'm becoming the only one left, as the rest are leaving or turning back with the same explanation, that Colonia feels dead.

Ah, I see, that´s where you are coming from. Your rant was in the name of others. :D

I agree with your concerns. But CEI was a horrible idea from the beginning. I felt it was nicer in Colonia before the great hype.

Just wanted to point out on my once daily browse that "losing" isn't really that accurate...more like "lost"

The original search to both find Jacques and re establish it as a working functional station was what inspired me to sink serious time investment into. Its what came after that made me lose interest entirely...FD were warned this exact thing would happen months ago but they pushed ahead with their plan and their vision. It was always about their plan with the players merely being strung along with cg and empty promises. They install their hateful bgs and I lost all interest even though I do park a ship or two there...only becase its convenient and means I don't have to go near the bubble ^

So you are given the most information any of us have ever had about CG's down to a 1 month period where you are promised a specific CG will appear and now you are complaining it's not good enough.

Bravo. Slow clap. Top marks.

I can pretty much promise it'll start on a Thursday which narrows it down to 4 specific days. Honestly at this stage what more do you want. If they said X date and then couldn't meet it I'm sure the complaint thread would be up within the hour.

So, to be clear, Colonia is 22k ly +/- from the Bubble. My Exploratory Conda does 52 ly/jump. Using straight jumps and bare (no cargo) would take 423 jumps +/- there to reach the CG.

Factor in cargo, the jump range lessens, so more jumps. If you use neutron assists, it helps but I imagine still multiple hundreds in jumps, then the return trip to get more materials(!), unless the materials are available within the Colonia area. Then it's the trip there and back once the CG is over.

The logistics lead me to believe that unless the rewards are astronomical (pun intended), there is little incentive for my participation, exploring in its current state leaves me cold. Others may arrive to the same conclusion.

I'd really like to go out there but will only do so if there's a handful of systems that all have full amenities. I want to be able to do most of the mission types I do in the bubble but out there...but will need to be able to buy stuff and use all the station services.

There have been plenty of CG's with equal or better info. Some player group oriented CG's have gotten really relaxed rules and limits to allow the groups to succeed. The old TIIQ CG for a AAA base is one example. So, yeah, I'm really not complaining because we're getting a lot of info, I'm complaining because the location of Colonia means it would be exceptionally useful information for a wide player community to know whether the CG will be another long range haul or if it'll be a local CG.

Oh right, I'm sort of with you now. I assumed from the way it was explained that it was going to be a local one since the long ones from the bubble so far have all been "Expansion Initiative" ones. I'd hope that it gets a mining/exploration one combined with a bounty hunting one. Not sure it's big enough for local trade yet...

Are you out there now? If so, what kind of CG do you think would benefit Colonia commanders the most?

423 jumps in a ship with a 52 LY jump range?
Well any fantasy I had of flying out there (half the reason I bought a 2nd Cmdr account) just went down the crapper.
Oh well. Plenty of action in the bubble.
