THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

In the book there is Lave Leesti, Tionisla, Teorge and Xezoar and a planet called Cirag.

Is there any others ?

Raxxla. (At least, it's mentioned).

Ha yeah but I think we all know it's not that.

I think others came up in conversation but just briefly.

Also Cirag isn't in game

Where did the baby thargoid come from, did they mention a place or did Zafe just have a few lying around ?

About clue29c: "constellation aurgia who phaethon is based on faces the milky way above Orion towards Sirius the brightest star." I think that's another strong indicator of their involvement to say the least. Anyone got something docked on there turf maybe something in local. Credit to roommate brandon

Ok, I think I might have a partial translation.

I like it! Always love a book cipher... but just to let you know ... This is Page 25

From this handy website: http://www.c64sets.com/set.html?id=107&show_all=1

I might be wrong of course ... This is from the Comnodore 64 version ... Not sure if the pages were exactly the same ... would be best to have a scan of the 1984 version of course :)

Very interesting indeed - could be worth comparing the pages of the different "The Dark Wheel" releases, whether content is the same for the most part on the physical page. The part of the "formula" SUM could mean that we have to consider/extract the whole CONTENT that is narrated of, in this case (not complete, just as an example): Tionisla, ship graveyard, and so on.

Here’s some more to confuse everyone once and for all :p (but at least with reference to the Formidine rift mystery), as we put some meaning to the different Formidine Rift aspects I guess this one hasn’t been mentioned before:
“(La) Bella Principessa” , as we know Luko named his Cobra, could have a connection to a painting that is supposed to be originated by Leonardo da Vinci (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Bella_Principessa) . As written in the article, currently it is not sure that this painting is from Leonardo da Vinci himself, some attribute it to him, some do not – but I think that does not have much importance for the Formidine Rift story/mystery. I found it far more interesting that the analysis of the painting (in the Wikipedia feature) names the original owner of the painting as Ludovico Sforza (shortname of Ludovico is Luco/Luko) – and that does fit perfectly to the Rift mystery / Reclamation story – though I don’t know if it brings us some further to the solution, but maybe it brings some more light to it.

The technique the painting has been made of is the so called “trois crayons” (three chalks) including the only use of black, white and red colour. The drawing “shows Bianca Sforza, the illegitimate daughter......” “.......of Ludovico Sforza, ("Il Moro"), duke of Milan” (I felt free to quote that here) . Could fit to the fact that her father, Algreb Loren, dislikes her (maybe due to that fact that for real she is not his physical daughter) and instead prefers her sisters, that she has black hair instead the blonde hair of her sisters, and I always had the impression that Luco/Luko seemed to be a bit sad or behaved in a sad manner (as if he misses his daughter > Salomé) in her presence. I always had the feeling that he fits better to the character as her original father as he shares not few wisdom and experience with her. “Il Moro” can be translated with “The Dark” (one), in the original meaning to the real Ludovico Sforza it maybe (don’t know for sure) related to this dark hair, related to the Formidine Rift mystery it could refer to the “Dark Wheel” and/or that he is a shady character in general (with a “dark” past ?) .

I find myself tonight on the outer edge of the outer arm, pretty much straight out on the Reorte to Riedquat line. I've been out tbis way once before, and likely won't find anything of note this trip either, save for a few nice shots. I will continue to search, however.

I clearly can see "The galaxy hanging there" - great shot! By the way, where are you exactly (system) ?

EDIT: regarding that quote from Reclamation the best shot so far I've seen ! Intended or not :) ? How can I rep you ?

I'm not for sure exactly. I'd meant to post up a shot of where I am on the map before I left for work last night but forgot to. I will try to do so this evening. As fornthe shot, no, it wasn't intended. I'm not nearly so clever to think of something like that. I do, however, have a few more shots taken in a similar fasion.

And one of my new favorites, even if it is a simple shot...

I'm not concerned with rep, though I appreciate the gesture, and that you enjoyed the picture. All I would like is to be helpful in furthering our knowledge base when it comes to mysteries such as the Rift.

I forgot to mention, but the brown planet is an ammonia world. The other shots are all of the same planet, an ELW I came across yesterday evening.

'Phaethon’s Reach, follow the path of souls'

My thoughts are, this event could all be contained within Sol.
Starting at Saturn (Phaethon) and maybe ending at Charon (ferryman could be the 'path of souls', as he takes them across the river Acheron to the underworld)

Anyway time for me to return to the bubble and start grinding permits

Eradinus cluster has supposedly the 2nd largest supervoid region, could this mean anything, looking down from orion over the void onto the Galaxy?

I looked at this: http://www.frontierastro.co.uk/Fiction/The_Dark_Wheel.pdf

Don't know which version it's from though. I don't have my copy from the BBC version with me in my current residence, but if anyone else has copies it'd be interesting to see how the pages compare across the different versions.

Also Cirag isn't in game

Hmm, I wonder if any of the missing systems were in any of the previous games.

There seems to be a lot more systems mentioned in the official lore from the first game. Found this while searching: http://daftworks.co.uk/elite/index.php/Glossary

Based on that I've downloaded a copy of the original manual. Lot's of very interesting stuff in there.

Found this bit from the 'Insectoids' section particularly intriguing given the recent trailer:

"One life form builds earth cities up to four miles high, and over four million drones live in the middle levels. According to legend, any trader who voluntarily ascends the earth passageway from ground to upper surface is honoured with the rare title Ascender of the Scent City. And then consumed alive."

That particular PDF isn't a direct scan. I doubt that the page flow mimics any of the original releases.

The final resting place for the soul in Greek myth was Elysium. In The Dark Wheel there is a character named Elyssia Fields, a clone from Teorge.

'My given name is Elyssia. Elyssia Fields.' She smiled again. 'My brood mother's little joke. She discovered Greek mythology at age 9 when she was incubating her first cluster.'
