Which game mode will you play

Ironman is not a multiplayer mode, it is a rule set. You can play the game in all the multiplayer (or single player) modes in either Normal or Ironman.
They're kind of apples and oranges really.

I was under the impression that if you were playing iron man online, you would be part if the iron man group, and couldn't switch to other groups.
Keeping our heads down, only sensible when you're not immortal.
That made me chuckle and so true.
Ironman is only related to how 'mortal' your character is.
In 'normal' mode, you get automatic escape pods, your ship replaced, and nobody really dies.
In Ironman though, escape pods are manual, must be bought, and if your ship blows up with you in it - you are dead. Finished.
Because of that, Iron Man characters cannot play in the same universe as Normal players as it totally changes the dynamic of the game. In Ironman, death matters. In Normal, not so much.
The multiplayer options otherwise remain the same.
All Players Group Online for me. But also, Solo Group Online. And finally, Private Group Online, or Ironman Online. If we have three commanders ...
Is there any confirmation that Ironman is going to have the same 3 grouping modes as Multiplayer?
I thought nothing has been said yet.
I originally wanted to play in the all group, but the amount of idiots intent on annoying other players that the game already has in it (bearing in mind we all paid well over the odds to get here) has put me off.
I'll be in a private group, i had hoped that the fans of this kind of game might raise the bar a little over your average internet denizen but when the game is released to the general public the proportion of players who are only playing to PvP is going to rise dramatically.
Rather than us getting a dynamic, changing, interesting galaxy populated by real people trying to make there way as pilots it's going to become another haven for fps fans who just want to shoot at other players even if there is no reason to pick them over the AI.
they'll just want the human player kills number higher and higher and nothing else will matter.
So i'll be in a private group, i dare say lists of like minded players will spring up and we can all muck in together, booting out any idiots as they appear.

I initially voted Ironman but only now I have realized that Ironman players only get grouped together. Can't change the vote now... I want to be able to play with as many players as possible, so I'll probably play the All Group instead.

I believe that is correct so in essence Ironman is its own separate mode. The only thing we don't know about it is if its going to have some of the group options as multiplayer or if it's just going to be All Group only.
The DDA says that IM will have the same modes, ie solo, private and all.

Probably like a lot of people I will try the public online game for a few months. If I don't like it I will probably play the single player game or ditch the game altogether depending on whether its any fun as a single player game. I am hoping that it will be a fantastic online game and that the typical multi-player cheaters, griefers and hackers will not spoil it but I am not confident that will be the case.
