General / Off-Topic Nigel Farage says EU gangsters owe the UK billions

Back to the first single cells battled amongst themselves for food. :D

Besides Nigel just a joke and have no better idea just to whine about some utterly ridiculous reason to justify his own existence, try to create a valid(ish) reason. The problem? These scores and debt long settled, or paid as meat to be, by details. Or just a lie.

Money? Who thinks who owes who, going back to the crusades no doubt, or is it the Romans?

The UK signed the London agreement on German external debts, so it can shut its trap about german liabilities from WW2.

During both WW1 and WW2 the UK lent a huge amount of monies from banks to fight the war on the agreement we'd pay it back. All of our allies agreed to pay towards the bill for their freedom - Not one penny has been paid to the UK but we still have the debt to pay back. If anything these countries should be forced to pay what they agreed to in the first place.

As for Spain and Gibralter - We should just point out how bad their already poor economy would be with no UK tourism.

You do realise we wrote loads of in the sixties meaning they no longer owe us for WW2

I would ask to know a Source for that.
No Offense. But I never heard of any Agreements where Countries lend something from the UK to Finance or Fight WW2
Which is not Surprising because the UK had no Equipment to Spare and abandoned all their Continental Allies in WW2 leaving them to the Germans.

So if such a Debt exists. Its entirely Normal they are not Paid. Because the UK did not actually Protect them but Withdrew to their Island and Bunkered up leaving them to Die.
Dont demand Payment for a Job someone else did.

To begin with this makes me as sick as Usual.
UK Playing the Savior of Freedom what a Joke.
You guys had less Participation in WW2 than Hungary for Heavens sake....
Goddamn it most of your Participation was not even you yourself but your Colonies.....

Stop Playing the Freedom Fighter.
You Saved no one. You Won nothing and you also did not Free anything.
You abandoned your allies on the Continent and Germany gobbled them up.
Your Conspiracies resulted in 2 more European Countries being Attacked by Germany as Germany had to fear them being used as British Bases otherwise.
All you did was sit on your island and fighting for your own lifes.

Complete and utter ignorance of history here on every aspect. Words fail to describe your disrespect.

The smell is too strong, so he is successfully get us off tracks. Diverts our attention. Scape goat? Same question... Either you fall off, or get angry because of it? You have been red herringed.

1. Citation needed.
2. "Should be forced"? Pray tell, how would you like this "forcing" to be done, and who will be applying said force?

Name any country that has ever paid it's debt's on time.

Challenge accepted. Does this count? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_war_reparations_to_the_Soviet_Union

The nature of "debt" is an interesting one here. Extortion money would probably be more accurate, but it was paid.

Apart from historical context, WW2 is of little to no relevance for this topic. Why did it even come up again?

People keep bringing it up. I feel like we're Russians, and somebody will always have to bring up the Great Patriotic War.

We should ignore him, let him disappear up Trump's rear hole, and silently abandon Article 50.

It's a little hard to ignore the fact that he'll still be drawing a fat EU salary (without doing the work) for the next two years. Everybody silently abandoning Article 50 would be hilarious, but sadly we've come too far.

So we must keep doing a mistake because we did this long so we must make it until the end? Really? It's better later than never but you must stop making a mistake.

It's also pointless, putting someone in forced labour with no pay (i.e. their pay goes to pay off debt) simply doesn't work. It kills the person with the debt so the debt remains unpaid and it can and has happened on a country scale.

Take the Weimar republic (modern day Germany). War (WW1) reparations forced them to print money to pay to other countries, due to the printed money not going into the economy that printed it it devalued the currency, as that currency devalued they had to print yet more to try and keep up with payments. It got to the stage of normal people in the republic having to take a barrow full of cash to pay for food, even to the point where there were piles of cash left on the street because someone had stolen the wheelbarrow (it was worth more)!

I've never actually thought of this before but Weimar was a republic and world war one was largely a family dispute with a very powerful family spread over a few countries. Wonders why the republic lost out.

Anyway before Greece joined the Euro it got a loan from Goldman Sachs (I think - going from memory here and it's getting late). That loan didn't break the rules of the EU central bank for joining the Euro but it knew about it and must have realised it'd mean Greece would have to start repaying, making its balance nonviable for joining the Euro. An entire country is now being starved to death, getting loans to pay off the repayments on its current debt which just means more debt.

This can also happen to the UK, although we have our own currency, but then so did Weimar (for a while).

In conclusion (certainly not aimed at Adept or anyone really)...

Someone somewhere is always benefiting from the destruction of the masses property so let's stop this my country saved everyone, no your country are cowards. This is powerful people over masses it always has been, it probably always will be. I doubt any of us count as powerful people so we're in it together.

Welcome to the world where the bankers call the shots. Either with Brexit or without, people have to appreciate how much indirect power and influence the big financial institutions have over us, and how little of them will be called to account. Rather like EU bureaucrats. ;)

My take on the EU is it put all those people together fighting it out. Like putting a bunch of scrapping cats in a bag, they all pull in a different direction but that levels the whole thing out more or less. It's far from perfect but given the number of wars between these nation before the EU and after, for the average Joe in the street in any of the countries involved, it's been an overwhelming success. Like I say I get it's a long, long way from perfection, it's just a lot better than the alternative.

It's not too far regarding the actual process, Article 50 isn't irrevocable. Plenty of remainers are hoping that when the reality of the situation is revealed over the next couple of years (and more of the older brexit voters die along with more younger remain voters reaching 18 years old) that the UK will pull out of leaving.

Unfortunately anything relating to Europe or certain faiths ALWAYS devolves to WW2 or certain things that happened during this time. Its a shame that it has to get to that stage there have been LOADS of other wars throughout the years where people have died but this one people seem to flock to as a means to give their argument credence.

I do think that if everyone had the ACTUAL facts not propaganda then the vote may have changed, another thing that comes to mind as Farage has taken the country out of something on a hearsay or ideology in a hope to get something out of it surely thats surmountable to treason surely.

True and I really don't think it helps any argument other than isn't this why the EU was formed and haven't we had unparalleled peace between the countries involved since the EU was formed. However there may be a reason it's the default war that gets brought up...

The problem is that there are no actual facts to compare.

Opinions are one thing as are doom-mongering prophesies. Outrageously optimistic predictions are another. Until things come to pass literally noone can say whether these things are wrong or right or (more likely in most cases) somewhere in the middle. But there simply can't be verifiable facts for a Pro-Brexit position because it's purely aspirational and the future is widely variable depending on how things pan out for the UK over the next decade.
