Asteroid Bases

Anyone else planning to relocate their fleet to an asteroid base? Supposedly Hind Mines has a shipyard. I've been fancying finding a good remote system to reside in. I couldn't resist checking out some images from the beta forums and I'm just blown away by the atmosphere (if you will) of these places.

It was a toss up for me between an asteroid base or a mega ship, kinda like the mega ship idea since presumably they will move around a bit so I'd get to see different systems 😛

Can you dock in those? I didn't even know that!
You can on some, I don't think they all have pad but some do, I didn't think you could dock large ships there but I found out last night that you can so I can actually land my vette there with us good XD

so much English fail in that one.....

Not an asteroid base per se but I'm looking to set up shop at a station situated within an asteroid ring (as apparently this is also going to become a thing).

Things I need there:

Large pads
Limpet & ammo supply
Black market
Anarchy
Miner npcs

If I can find a location that fits the bill, I'll probably never leave again :)

I presumed that when they said that bases could be in rings it meant asteroid bases? Wouldn't a normal station be filled with holes very fast? XD

Apparently it's a different thing. The asteroid bases (carved into the rock) will all be out in deep space. But stations in belts will (I hope) exist in the bubble.

The rocks in belts seem to be spookily inert for the most part, at least until you start the laser rotisserie (and then they just wiggle on the spot) so hopefully stations will be safe there :)

Ah ok, well I think I still prefer the mega ship home base I think XD

I think this will be a thing we'll see in game. I'm excited to see stations in more exciting and scenic places besides just being in orbit. I'll have to visit all the new options for a home base before making a final move.

Having my fleet anywhere but Jameson is pointless but if Hind does have a shipyard, I might keep one ship out there. Not sure which one though as I'm still waiting to try out the DBX buff.

If there's an asteroid base near my current home then I might consider relocating, I have a good mining system 2 jumps away, close to li systems for discounts, and several ltd pirating anarchy systems 4jumps away max, and pretty central in the bubble so easy to get around even in low jump range ships

Asteroid bases are apparently all out in deep space (a little sadly).

Very very cool that there are some deep space bases dotted around though. That's motivation enough to make me consider a jaunt outside the bubble again.

Well it's good to see FDev adding incentives to go out and explore. I would like to see some in the bubble, adjacent to RES sites for example. It might prove an interesting gathering area for CMDRs :)

they looked pretty when I was in beta so I will re-locate in the future, I'm off into the black ASAP though!

Im going to outfit my Clipper for mining and relocate her in an asteroid base out of the way- nice pristine reserves should make a fairly easy profit

Let me know where you end up, I'll come join!

P.S. my clipper is NOT outfitted for mining.. Though it DOES carry a large consignment of limpets.. :D

There's a couple in the bubble, one in Imperial space...I stuck a movie of me docking at it on here a while back. Can't for the life of me remember what it was called...

Edit: Freeholm station... in Artemis is where it was
