THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

On the other hand ED is a simulation in any aspect, so simulating a life that one would have in the ED universe would come out like that - as in real life you also get no story "told" , you just experience it or not. But whether you participate or not also depends on your personal behaviour, for example, in real life a great event is announced, the place and time then in general you have the opportunity to go there - or stay away.

I agree, that is indeed how it works in real life, stuff happens with or without you present. But in real life there are these things happening non-stop. Every decision you make will lead you to one thing happening or another. In Elite, for this to work there would have to be thousands of different and individually branched easter egg hunts at any given time. I should be tripping over puzzles to solve and mysteries to uncover, not go out of my way (turn off the game) and browse some forum to find out what (if any) i can do in the game to experience the story.

Likewise, while i agree that in real life there are things happening all the time and you just witness them or dont, keep in mind that in real life there would be things happening that cater and interest me as an individual. I would not participate in the "Worldwide Cryptology & Wavelenght Symposium" but i would be interested to go to Gamescom or World Airguitar Championship 2017.

There is nothing to do in the game unless all you want is mindless dogfighting or solving out-of-game easter egg hunts that are catered to a ridiculously niche audience.

p.s. I dont mind difficult and very specialized easter-egg hunts. Just dont hitch your entire story-arc on it. Make some story content for retards like me and the remaining 95% of ED userbase.

I think that you are underestimating the players willing to support Salome and her crew. Yes ... SDC is a force to be reckoned with but if the right people get in the way even SDC can be handed their hats.

It is incredibly daring of Drew to offer his protagonist up on the altar like this.

Personally ... I've bit the bullet. I've wanted to stay free of military entanglements but I've run Fed military rank up to "Chief" to get myself in a FAS. I actually went bounty hunting tonight. Almost a year since I shunned combat and went out to explore the galaxy.

... I didn't do well.

A few tweaks to my build though and I think I'll have a better go at it tomorrow. Once I've rebuilt some of my basic skills I might try and meet up with some friends for a little friendly PvP.

Try "efficient" lasers (whichever you like) and over charged multi-cannons - pick your posion for magic affect, though one of them should be corrsive. It's brutal.

Z...

I understand your point of view. I personally see it this way, that any player will have the possibility to take part, even if one is not "directly" involved or in the same instance with CoR and/or Salomé. This could be one or more missions for example to escort and protect, deliver, salvage or recon, maybe also one or more community goals will have to be done, but we'll see. I imagine that it'd be really cool when players that do not know each other but aim for the same goal spontaneously form a wing for example to build a blockade or to fight griefers or other "bad guys" . 3 or 4 big ships in wing with 2 fighters each - that would be an impressive image !

The story? You mean A story. I also guess you've not tripped over the dozens of listening posts out there that take you on mini adventures that you don't need to "browse a forum" for.

Only if she decides to fight them then yes, they are definetely in top 5 best PvP pilot groups in the game and she is not :)

They are also a very small group.

I'm disappointed theirs no livery option at Farsight - Maybe the base in the Soul Nebula might have it? (Doubtful)

I've always found it amusing that I could repair my paint job but not change my livery when surely if it can repair from 1% for multiple ships in different livery the station must have the equipment and templates to do the whole job.

I've also found it strange that they limit access to bling while trying to sell it to us.

But logic in a game? Am I expecting too much?

I smell a petition coming [yesnod]

Any small very well trained group has quite a good chance of killing one unexperienced pilot, then hundreds of tinfoil hat enthusiasts in protecting said pilot. SDC knows how to deal with instancing problems together quickly, when we will be debating on what colour of flowers Salomé prefers and who is worthy to speak to her first :)

Is someone from CoR organising any support I could be a part of? Who should I speak to?

Hehe, very true indeed. And that is partly the point. All the postulating of how they are going to make things go the way some don't want and how FD should do something to stop it, without any kind of attempt to organise a force against them (though I hope this is happening in other channels). And then if it comes to pass that they manage to kill Salome (if that's even what they'd want to do) all we will be left with is people moaning about them and how FD let it happen, which is exactly what they want.

You want to stop them, organise security, get them as soon as the enter the system, constantly harass them. Sacrifices need to be made to win the war.

Maybe try speaking to Erimus, he may point you in the right direction.

All they really have to do is organise a bunch of players and lock everyone else out of the instance.

If things get really hairy just reorganise the groups and pull in more players until the instance crashes... We've had to deal with enough bugs now it's time to force them in our favour. :D

But perhaps COR and other supporters called for support in order to rally people to endorse their cause , not to protect Salomé . What if she doens't need help at all ? it is said she has seen things to unveil , thruth to tell , so she might have seen or been in contact with something special perhaps . What if her ship is laser proof by some unknown alien mods (after all in some 2.3 trailer we can see some strange moded Cobra mkIII) . And what if she is flanked by some space artichokes ships :D

( tin foil hats, 2ç only ; until sold out !! )

I am not aligned to either side (or any power) currently, but I'm all for helping Salomé just to find out what she knows! If I can instance then I will be there to help/die (delete as appropriate).

Incidentally, are we any closer to actually knowing WHERE we should be come 6pm on 29th???

I've read your post about your theories , and read the link about Plato Republic. I quite agree with your analyse, and I think we can narrow the rdv point to the Sol system . Phaeton's reach could be either nearby the sun or in the asteroids belt between mars and Jupiter. Still trying to figure the formula . However I don't understand why you get 1984 from T-1319 ....

If T equals the current year in game. 3303-1319=1984

T= Current date (in-game) =3303-1319=1984, the date the original Elite was released. ;)
