To save some pain, some advice for you...
Before you got hurtling into the scenarios check out the controller options and configs and make sure you have the keybindings in place (not all are in place - boost, gear and the menu navigation come to mind if you use the X52 Pro profile for example).
In the first scenario, the waste canisters, don't get too close to the canister you're trying to destroy... If you find that it's not being damaged reverse away a bit until it does get hit as the guns are calibrated oddly (or were).
You can approach the other scenarios with a bit more abandon...

These are just the combat scenarios, though. Get your controls all set where you like them. Then start watching some videos on docking, navigation, trading, and departure - you'll want to have that knowledge before full Beta opens up. I have "the YouTubes" (lol, cracks me up when people say that) in my sig, if you are interested.

I upgraded from a Beta Kickstarter Special pledge to the Premium Beta level before PB came out, but I've just been mailed about the release of SP to beta backers. Next time FD do a mailing like this (Beta release? Gamma?) it would be worth identifying upgraded pledges/purchases and excluding those from the mailing, in case people who don't read very closely think they are getting access to something new and wasting Ashley's time with tickets.

Just a quick note: The Single Player Combat Build is downloaded from store.zaonce.net, not elite.frontier.co.uk.
Is the new installer able to handle incremental upgrades over major releases, or just between minor versions? If so, FD are being canny in spreading out their bandwidth bill.
The components in my current rig range between four and eight years old, and some are ailing - I'll be patient, methinks.
If you had that feeling then surely you should have done something about it... Kind of like that having a full bladder feeling... you don't wait for it to go wrong, you do something about it!

<grins> No, but limited budget does - I've had to gather new components, one by one, over the last eight months.
Great news, but...'till yesterday of few days ago, I could upgrade from my standard copy to the standard beta. Now I can't, why???
This option will be made available again once the Premium Beta is taken off the store, so around the 15th July. We'll make sure to let everyone know once that discount is definitely live again though.
This is my first experience of getting a real backer benefit and first impressions are important. I wrestle my son off the windows pc, log into my email and click on the link. I am led into the old style elite dangerous web page which lists my backers benefits and has no link whatsoever to downloadable products.
I try to go to my profile and the site hangs up. After 10 minutes of frustration I give the pc back to my son.
Half an hour later I try on the mac (because I can't get at the windows box)
This time the email link goes to the spiffy new Elite Dangerous Store. woo hoo! Excited!
Click on my downloadable products - nope - nothing there - I am not entitled to anything. Depression!
To report the problem here I have to go through a world of pain getting my login back - about 20 failed captcha attempts because the reset page doesn't work. Finally I manage to update my credentials here, and sort out the new email so I can write this note.
Customer experience - extremely poor - very fed up. Manfully restraining myself against breaking the forum rules because I am so disappointed.
I try to go to my profile and the site hangs up. After 10 minutes of frustration I give the pc back to my son.
