People, are SC rendering unplayable with more players join-in?

Elite for me ìts now unplayable: Missions don`t update, mission board not working, constant logoff from server issues... TONS of LAG too.

SC have this issues too?

There are definitely some issues with ED this week, although I'm sure they'll be fixed soon, and beware Yaffle.

SC uses a different model (a sort of star with a server in the middle) compared with ED's peer-to-peer arrangement. This potentially means different sorts of problems, or at least different symptoms. My limited experience of Star Citizen has been that it is liable to crash frequently. I can't say if this is due to other players. There was apparently a "feature" hastily patched out last week whereby one player could lock up the entire instance. I don't think SC development has really progressed far enough for the developers to be looking to optimise it, especially as they're rewriting big chunks of it (again).

We won't know unless CIG actually make some of it.

The problem here is that to believe you actually got all these issues, a lot of "other" people should be in the same situation, I can't recognize this at all, sure there are bugs, sure some of them are game breaking, but constant logoff, server issues and tons of lag just no.

SC on the other hand is notorious to be so full of bugs that people make funny videos about it.

What a fantastic week for SC fans.

We get an incredible view of the Javelin Destroyer. A 3.0 release schedule.

Personally I'm glad that Chris Roberts doesn't give up. He keeps at it until he gets what he wants, which means SC's PU and SQ42 are getting even further along. By the end of June we will have several planets and moons to land on, including ones with atmospheres. Thats some damn cool stuff.

Emmmm...you won't. You know it. I know it. Everybody knows it.

Nothing will be released.

Ohhh no man,I am sure CIG will release 3.0 eventually......but if you see how many things they cut-off from the original 3.0 promise it will be just another disappointment. In my opinion except for a few new planets where we can land and run around also it will be a lot of fresh bugs + we will still have horrible flight mechanics and even worst network issues wich will allow us glorious 30 Fps in PU as usual.......

Does someone has a pickaxe?
I have to get through the bedrock in order to find my expectations at this point...the shovel doesnt work on it anymore...

He's never gotten what he wants — it's the one constant about everything he's ever developed — and he has given up on at least two different occasions before, to the point where he completely quit out of the industry he was in.

We also have no idea what's going on with SQ42, other than that they keep pushing key tech forward into the future, meaning it's getting farther and farther away. This, too, is very much how Chris has operated in the past.

I got a little downtime driving to Delphi to check out the latest videos from RSI and I was very impressed.
By what, exactly?

This seems to be the exact same thing that was in the newsletter a couple of days back. What's new about it?

This one has a much more recent publish date.

…ok, I'll be quiet now. For a little while…
e: To wit, look at the date — it's probably the one you're thinking of, although those single quotes make it seem like we should be expecting something on par with that one really famous letter.

Seems a little strange that people are celebrating it as new news in the comments section being that they've all been talking about it for the last couple of days already.

Citizens on Reddit are playing time games again.

The Mitanni interviewed Chris Roberts on 10/19/2012. He CLEARLY said they were 1yr into the project then. So 2017 is year 6. So, 4 yrs late (delivery date was 11/2014). This 3.0 schedule puts it in 2018 (year 7) with barely 25% of what was promised, and not even 1 of 100 systems built by then.

That interview was what I based my Kickstarter pledge on. If the guy had been honest, I would have never backed that in the first place. (You don't start a game development project in 2013 and still choose CryEngine 3 for it.)

Not everyone wants insta-load-cargo.

Very true. And just wait until that is realeased. The complaints from those who want insta load cargo will be loud and long.

Expect comments like "CIG want me to not play the game"

You'll see a lot more of this sort of thing once the dream starts to become a reality. A lot of things sound nice in practice, but once (if) implemented the complaints will happen.

Let me challenge such kind of thoughts...

You said you don't want insta cargo load/unload, usually under the pretense of immersion and realism, but how about these :

1. Will you demand no insta ship startup? You want to fly the aurora? Do pass the non skippable 10 minutes startup sequence first, oops sorry there is no one I-win startup button either, you have to learn how your ship works, and memorize them.

2. You want to dock at a port? Do adhere the protocols first, if the atc told you to wait in the line and fly in circles for 20 minutes then you are obliged to comply.

3. You want to embark or disembark somewhere? please do follow the immigration and security procedures first.

Etc.

So, where do we draw the line for such immersion and realism? At what cost?
