THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

If the whole event consists of watching Salome buckyball a couple of hundred LYs, then this week's salt is going to look like a toddler's temper tantrum against the excrement-storm that will break loose.
I assume Drew has something a little more interactive planned.

My assumptions from actually listening to Drews interview:
-There are 4 FD?-controlled PCs with the information package.
-All of them want to reach a certain end point to broadcast their information to the galaxy (Galnet central?).
-Only one needs to survive for a success. If all die, there is a backup planned (players have to do a different thing, later?).
-The tactics/strategy of the 4 main characters were designed heavily with PvP in mind.

Hence:
-We will see 4 fast ships permanently on the run and a lot of players trying to hit these pinatas with their sticks.
-As targets need to be re-identified in each system, I would use a lot of decoy characters flying the same ship type (Aka needle in a haystick).

Story wise... why would CMDRs be trying to kill them all?

I have plans. Whether any of them survive contact with open mode remains to be seen. ;) It will be what it will be.

Cheers,

Drew.

According to von Moltke

No plan of operations extends with any certainty beyond the first contact with the main hostile force.

I hope you and your team are prepared to think on your feet, and that you get more than your fair share of luck!
It's about time things went your way, after all the setbacks :)

Just a head up guys, Artie has made his long awaited return to INARA.CZ

It is now fully up to date including all blueprints (Even the new DSS & sensor mods)

On the topic of how the 29th event will go, I suspect it will go in one of two ways, and there will be salt whatever.

If the lead characters are killed quickly I don't think the event will have been a failure, as this has been signposted as a possible outcome from the start. But it will be a bit like a highly billed boxing match, which has had weeks of build up and drama, that is then over in the first 20 seconds of round 1. It will have delivered what it said it was going to deliver, but people will be disappointed and start threads criticising the whole plan.

The other way I see it going is that the lead characters breeze through the whole event and jump along there path from A to B with a whole Benny Hill like entourage following (literally) in their wake, with occasional fights amongst themselves. In this scenario people will complain it was too hard to disrupt or it was just a linier chase and nothing really happened.

Either way I am sure Drew and the others who have put time and effort into organising this will get flamed in some way. Fortunately I am sure they all have thick skins.

For my part I intend to enjoy it in whatever form it takes.

Worth trying to engineer my Python in the less than a week we have? I haven't touched Engineers really, so I'd be starting from scratch. I have burst and beam lasers on.

Prob worth engineering drive a bit, give you more jump range - no need to bust a gut getting grade 5 - even a mild "tune up" via engineers can be nice - lighten the ship mass etc.

The more engineer mods you have, the bigger the advantage/survivability you'll have. My Python is pretty much as engineered as you can get with over 5k armor, 1k shields all resistance based, and a boost of about 426m/s.

I agree, i just don't want it to be over too quickly if you know what i mean, and have griefer's who don't care about the event spoil it for us. I'm sure a few people here feel the same way. Even if i don't make it into the instance i will gladly watch whoever is streaming, no problem.

As i said, i'm open to whatever happen's in this event.

@Saool has described the two extremes. Isn't reality normally somewhere in between?
.
I want to look at this positively, so I think that as long as it stays away from those extremes, there will be more people who are happy about the outcome (regardless of what that outcome is) than unhappy. It is a very interesting thing to even attempt and I wish everyone well on the night, regardless of who they are fighting for, or against. We will be taking part in a story, with no fixed outcome, so, in the words one Dr. Peter Venkman 'I love this plan. I'm excited to be a part of it. Let's do it!'. (Maybe I should only watch one stream at a time... ;) )

For those who haven't seen the new Generation Ship, its name is the Lycaon. Drifting 22,000 Ls out from Alaunus 10, dead in the water from the looks of it. Audio logs recovered paint the picture of an alien virus wiping out the crew after a geological survey of a nearby asteroid.

Been there, saw everything but the ship, several Distress signals, Degraded emissions (at one point three of those withing 5 ls), Encode datas... Gave up for now.[blah]
