THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

But it's not a dish, it's a shield, which is approximately the same diameter as the largest habitat ring protecting it from objects the spacecraft is ploughing into.

Possible dual function? Who knows it's all speculation. I do see some impact marks from meteor strikes though, but if that was its sole purpose then i guess it would be more convex in shape.
Ps i never said it was a transmitter or a receiver i just said it looks like a transmitter opposed to a receiver :)

I'm intrigued by the number of people posting along the lines of 'there is nothing for an independent pilot' in the event.

Surely this is pretty much a binary thing- you either want the protagonists to live, or to die. And in that respect, regardless of whether you are in a group or not, you can participate. Yes, there might be instancing issues, yes it might be a chaos of interdictions all over, yes you might die - at the hand of friend or foe (but then what is the point of principles if you are not prepared to run a 1m credit rebuy, just to know that you did what you could?).

The inventive might think of builds or tactics to have a chance to make a difference. You might choose to stalk the convoy and take a chance at an opportune moment. Again, you might instance, you might not. Sliding doors.

The alternative is not taking part at all. Not even trying. That doesn't make you independent in my book. That makes you apathetic; a spectator. All that chasing around might not achieve much, it might get very confusing. But its probably going to be a lot different than what you normally do in a coupe of hours gameplay - actually, for some rifters, chasing around in the dark not knowing whats going on, might not be all that different from regular play :)

Anyway, I urge you - give it a go. What have you got to lose other than a rebuy or two?

Q = A letter of the Alphabet
Que = An abbreviation of "Quebec"
Cue = When an actor is supposed to say his or her lines
Queue = A waiting line or sequence

:)

Sorry ... I should be used to seeing all of these used in place of "queue" by now :)

Que = Spanish for What.

Someone drew (pun intended!) up the Formidine Rifters badge ages ago (18 months? More?). Now we have found the Zurara how about a new design showing it and perhaps asking FD if we could have it as a ship decal?

I visited her yesterday, took photos and a couple of vids. Saw the whole galaxy just hanging there. If anyone is going out you definitely need to have some jumponium. EDD routing comes up with WAYPOINT in a route plan-beware, it means you need to find a waypoint because it cant because there's no stars close enough, i.e. you need to plan around that point and maybe use fsd injects. One WAYPOINT isnt so bad, but when you get three or four consecutively then you have a problem.

Reports of griefers there; I only play solo or PG so had no problem. She's at the first planet, a HMC terraformable with nitrogen/oxygen atmosphere, so guess she droppped the terraforming kit then the cargo handlers did their job. Didn't see any sign of a satellite in the vicinity. Didn't come across any ELW they might have been looking for.

I think a decal for rifters and Canonn would be the appropriate given the lengths at which F Dev has been yanking both groups around.

Not quite that binary. I want to know the reveal so want them to live long enough for that, but I have been given no reason to side with CoR to protect them either.

So from my perspective I'm more likely to remain neutral and being constantly interdicted by CoR as not being part of the blind faith cult doesn't strike me as enjoyable gameplay.

Who knows what my position will be post reveal. It's very unlikely I will suddenly decide they all need to be killed, but I may not consider them heros who need protecting either. I don't know the reveal so can't say.

About the only thing I think I can guarantee is that if CoR keep interdicting me going about my lawful business as if they have some god given authority over me I won't be happy with that, and that would make it more likely I would watch the fireworks as a neutral. And if they start shooting at me they will have made the choice on sides.

It may be difficult for them, but currently I'm not their enemy and likely won't be unless they make themselves mine.

I'm sure this has been brought up already but looking at the galaxy map, 46 Eridani (in which the in-game event will take place) is almost exactly halfway between the bubble, Barnard's Loop and the California nebula. All of which have important roles in the events. Maybe Barnard's Loop will open up from permit lock? Will the Thargoids arrive from there? Maybe Salomé has stolen so much Meta-Alloys so she and Metadrive can develop technology to counter the alien threat? Or maybe the Empire has a secret pact with the aliens, that's why Salomé wanted to kill Patreus? What do you think?

…What do you think?

I think it has nothing to do with aliens, at least not directly.

From all I know (very little probably):
The main story line is created by FD.
The April 29. event is the conclusion (or a major milestone) of D. Wagars story arc about Salomé and the Formidine Rift.
I think FD is not going to give a third (or maybe 2.5) party control over such an integral part of their story.

It might be something about how certain groups with power are dealing with a possible alien threat. It might be something entirely different. Not all conspiracies are about aliens.

I think it's all about powerful organizations manipulating the superpowers and maybe even the entire human population for their own profit.

Disclaimer: I generally prefer non-alien plots in Sci-Fi. So this might be just wishful thinking from me.

But you would not be siding with CoR. You would be siding with Salomé. If you want her to reveal, then are you prepared to defend her? to face the rebuy screen in doing that?

It may be difficult for them, but currently I'm not their enemy and likely won't be unless they make themselves mine.

And that's why I would urge people to participate, even if not part of one of the 'main' groups. Because anything could happen. And that is probably going to be different from your normal play.

Personally, I just want Salome to cut her hair. It's not fair she gets to have long hair when none of the other ED women do. :p

That was a joke, by the way. I know her HOLO-ME doesn't have long hair, just her "book picture."

But it does give another reason for her to die. I've certainly heard my daughters say things like "I'd DIE to have hair like that!"

So maybe it's not a joke after all. She can have long hair in her coffin!

Geez that got dark, fast.

:)

You have an interesting stream of consciousness.

FYI for anyone who might be interested: The Earth Defense Fleet has cancelled it's warrant against Corsen. Anyone attempting to interfere with Corsen will be considered hostile by EDF.

*End public service announcement.

What's the RP reason behind that?

Obviously, the non-RP reason is that EDF doesn't want to be on the 'baddies' side of the event, but I'm curious about the justification :p
