Yep... My sentiments exactly. Its frustrating to have a ship that you use a lot, and that you have invested a ton of time and $$ into, that is rendered all but useless for the type of gameplay you use it in. All because a developer decided to go mucking with the lighting controls without being willing to follow it through if problems were introduced.

Then having to deal with a bunch of personal insults from the usual Apologist camp when raising the FACT that this problem keeps getting passed over. Their only argument being the claim that it isn't that important?

Well...

I don't use Multi-Crew.. I could use the same tone deaf argument and say that none of the bugs in MC are important because "I" don't use the feature, and thus are not effected by them.

Lets just say that my ignore list has grown considerably as a result of this thread today. ;) I don't have time for that level of tone deafness.

I was being lectured on the steam forums yesterday how the Star Texture "bug" was my graphics card being dead!

Some people are simply wilfully blind to any and all problems even when you provide 100's of comments backing it as a widespread bug as evidence! These people basically actively stop bugs being fixed by downplaying them and discouraging discussion to the point the devs actually don't know what the prevalence is and think a widespread issue is minor!

Sadly steam doesn't have an ignore function....

Didn't Frontier already state that XBox fixes would be at least 2 weeks ?
Early May, but then mentioned that it would be a few weeks after the patch went live today.

My largest complaint is it's looking like we will have to deal with this for a month in total.

It wouldn't be so bad if they at least gave us some info.

I would hope that the devs rely mostly on bug report frequency to determine the impact of any particular issue.

So hang on a min.... you are here complaining in an entitled way yet you just complained at someone else for complaining in an entitled way despite that their complaint is far more important and urgent than your own as they can't even get into the game at all. Riiight.

Quick question... why are you writing 'apologist' with a capital 'A' ? Are you defining an apologist as someone who, in this case, does not agree with you entirely or partially ? Who are 'the usual' ? And with those people, do you just add them to your ignore list ? :)

It's not quite the best attitude is it? Especially when, what it all boils down to is a lighting issue on a spaceship in a game.
Maybe I'm wasting my words on your here if I'm on your list too because I don't think it's as big an issue as many issues that were fixed (or partially fixed in the case of the galaxy map) in 2.3.0.1.

Might be a good idea to take your frustration off the forum and have a break for an hour or so.

Generally speaking I'm happy for the FPS (edit: especially the friends list one, oh god) issues and the packhounds being fixed along with the other fixes. I'm still rather salty about how Very Rare Mission Rewards have not been fixed since 2.2, but that will come with due time, it just hurts PVP pilots the most. However if I had any criticisms for Fdev, it would be that if a beta phase lasted a month, and atleast a 1/4 of that was released publicly while pointing out goals for testing in the said beta, we could end up with a far better result squashing bugs.

That's the whole point of a Beta is precisely stress testing and bug squashing, but trying to entice people into doing it by paying for something unique that you get to test out early, isn't really the best route, as it hurts the stress testing and the bug squashing because there's less population on the beta server when compared to people playing the game, why would people waste time on a beta server that they would have to pay to get access to, just only for the added benefit of you getting to test new mechanics, which is fine and dandy, provided the mechanics actually work flawlessly, but as we have learned with time, this isn't exactly the best way to go about it because we end up still with a ton of bugs.

Edit 2: added more fluff

Your beef is with Drew W. then. Frontier had nothing to do with that decision. I read through that thread, and it looked to me as if the majority of the opinions was to DELAY the event, but Drew decided to go forward with the 29th.

My guess is that he talked to Frontier and found out that this patch was going to come out earlier than May, and based on that, went against the majority opinion in his thread and kept the date. He knows that a lot of XB1 players are looking forward to that event as well.

My prediction is that you will have your 2.3.01 for XB1 before the 29th. If you don't... THEN you can fill a thread full of whining posts.

I did bring this up to Drew.

On this forum he said:

Agreed. This is my event (for good or for ill!). I made that call.

(Full pips to shields).

Cheers,

Drew.

So he's talking out of both sides of his mouth on this.

And in the mean time, FD breaks their own rules about releasing patches on all platforms at the same time with blatant disregard for the xbox players that can't get in on this event because of FD breaking the game.

I came to this thread calm.

If I seem a little upset right now, it's because FD is ignoring their part in this while Mods and players here jump to support the PC-Master-race people.

Why? Cause they got theirs.

The general response I see for people saying "is this a bug" is a bunch of tryhards saying "it's a minor issue, it'll get fixed at some point, don't talk about it you are disturbing our forums go away" (in summary)

If you think for example everyone who had the dodgy star textures filed a bug report I think you'd be sorely mistaken I bet it wasn't even a fraction of 1% of the active playerbase!....even those who admitted it was a problem just said "well someone has reported it so I don't need to" again this attitude is actively encouraged by many "don't bother the devs with a bug report, it's a nothing issue" etc etc

I mean would it be that much of a difficulty to expand beta into an Open Beta Phase for at least a week and focus on bug squashing?

I don't know of anyone who was active in the 2.3 Beta that was pushing for 2.3 to go Live based on Beta 5. Quite the contrary!

We were all expecting at least a Beta 6 and more time to get many of the issues patched today, patched back then!

If it makes you feel any better, players in Merope are getting CTD's when they try and dock at Alcazar's Hope since 2.3.01 dropped...though that'll no doubt be patched post haste, far faster than xbox.

Everyone was, which helps my point. I'm not saying release it on the live servers, I'm saying promote the beta server by opening it up to the public with added goals of fixing and testing specific mechanics and hunting down bugs, the larger the population, the larger the stress test.

Remember how when they buffed AI in 2.1 but resulted in Beta 4 AI Being the best, but we still ended up with Beta 6 AI with Superweapons that still ended up being nerfed after release? yeah.
