THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

What do "we" get if the conspiracy is revealed?

The question for me is what is covered up and how would revealing the truth affect the galaxy. Truth can be very dangerous. It could affect a lot of people in a very negative way - people not involved in the conspiracy. Normal people, simply trying live their lives.

From "Reclamation" I get the impression that Salomé is willing to risk the lives of thousands just to get what she thinks is her right or what she considers justice.
I simply don't trust her to make a decision for more than herself - and even those decisions often where really bad. And now I should trust her that the truth she wants to reveal is not going to negatively affect innocents?

If what ever is covered up turns out to result in war, death of millions and chaos - is it worth to uncover it? Just because some "bad" people covered it up?
I think in that case Salomé should get stopped from revealing the truth - and I would prefer an outcome where nobody dies.

If what ever is covered up turns out to be something that has been done for personal profit of a few. What would uncovering that truth change in a galaxy where injustice is the norm? It wouldn't suddenly turn the galaxy into a better place.
Revenge for a few thousand deaths? In a galaxy where slavery is standard, where even slight transgressions of the law result in death penalties?

Now, the bad thing is the conspiracy could result in something really bad happening and uncovering could prevent that from happening.
We just don't know.

That's my problem. I don't trust Salomé to make the right decision. I don't know if uncovering the conspiracy will result in something good or bad. I don't even know if that conspiracy is worth spending more than a few minutes to think about.

CoRs theory on whats going on was declassified back in January. Its just a theory - but it fits in with some of the clues that have appeared in GalNet and forum posts over the past year.

I've re-posted it here : Superpower Conspiracy?

RP wise , this is exactly what my character's House has stated . And thus the decision to take her alive back in the Empire to retrieve intelligence and weight what she knows. And also to figure out what depth and means have her connections and supports.

In character:

Sadly I no longer believe it is possible to take her alive. There are simply too many factions supporting her, factions that have already demonstrated their willingness to do anything, no matter how heinous, to protect their so called leader (although she feels more like a pawn to me). The only option now is to kill her and continue to investigate for ourselves.

My only real concern right now is that this whole thing is a smokescreen for something else.

o7, CMDRs.

I just wanted to pop in and say hi and thanks so much for giving us voice actors such a warm welcome to the Elite community.

The response to the new voice acting has been... amazing... encouraging... overwhelming... It's been a really bizarre and totally unexpected week! Basically, I couldn't have wished for a better intro to this universe and the more I'm learning about it the more impressed I am with both the game and the people who play it. Particular thanks to everyone who made the long journey out to the Rift - we'd been waiting for someone to find our logs for a long time so cheers for putting us out of our misery!

Fly safe and fingers crossed I'll see you all out in the black at some point soon.

Amelia (Rebecca Weston)

This got lost in the heavy traffic. Thanks Amelia for the excellent voice work. I think it's super cool of you to drop in and say hi!

Has anyone had a look at the system Medimunda?

Reason for asking: 'Medi munda' can possibly with liberal interpretation of Latin, mean ' Center of the Universe'(Heart or Core of the universe).

Correct spelling looks to be 'Medi mundi' or 'Medio Mundi' but hey, it's close. :D

No, Thankyou for the awesome voice acting :) Anyone who has been out and heard those logs will no doubt agree that having them with actual speech made the experience so much better than just the usual text. Looking forward to finding more clues from Rebecca, and I hope there will be many, many more logs to hear in the future o7

I don't get why people want to kill her. She wants to give some information, that's it. She don't plans to bomb earth or something so why does she have to be stopped at all cost? The only reason, from an RP perspective, is that you are an imperial lacky which thinks the emperor is always right. Do you think the emperor wants her to be shoot on sight because she has only stupid lies to tell? Sure, she made some bad calls in Reclamation but this was years ago and she was basically a spoiled child which was thrown into chaos. Since then a couple of years have passed and if Drew still paints her like this I would stop reading his books because this would be very bad writing. She must have developed in the meantime. I don't think she will do the same mistakes again and Drew mentioned a couple of times that she regret what she did in the Prism system and that this changed her as a person. I also think this is the reason why she not just told everybody what she knows because she knew that would lead to chaos and maybe the death of many people so she took her time and gathered information in order to reveal the truth in a way which is best for the galaxy.
I'm not a fan of her either, I just think that her mistakes from the past and her plan to reveal something is not a reason to try to kill her. I would like to hear what it is what makes the empire so afraid of her...

The main reasons I suspect are:-
1) Things aren't very consequential in the game.
2) Pew pew!

Imagine if your actions on the 29th could result in you becoming a permanent enemy to the Empire... Imagine how that might alter some in game actions?

I doubt this will happen just because I didn't shoot at her, but it would be interesting... ;)

LOL! Yeh, a poor example, but you get my drift :)

ie: If there were meaningful ramifications to your actions, you'd tread more carefully. As there are really few... pew pew is fun!

Has anyone noticed that the Galnet report calls the Zurara a Bulk cargo vessel, not a genship?

It was not a Generation ship, which are sublightspeed vessels where generations of inhabitants are born and die before they reach their destination. It was on a mission to deploy beacons and terraforming equipment, and it is large, hence that is the correct description. What puzzles me is why we have not found any such beacons other than at the FRift alpha-delta bases, the implication is that there should a beacon per terraformed or ELW, and I don't know that there is all that much evidence of terraforming. Has anyone done an analysis from EDSM on the number of terraformables found in that region?

Edit: ninjad by both Han_Zen and DrewW, this is a first! ;)
But my question still stands-anyone analysed the number of terraformables/ELW?
