Most people stopped playing the game because they weren't there when we needed them....
When you donate your labor to a cause, and Frontier makes it harder rather than easier, this seems like a reasonable action. Quit having a whine because people who value their own time and effort to make things better for you and for the entire community, without pay,
I would like to thank the third party sites for everything they have done and to say that I hope they succeed in achieving more support from Frontier.
I wholeheartedly support the 3rd party tools in this. They add so much to the game, not just in terms of utility but in terms of immersion. I have their pages open when I'm playing, checking things and deciding on the best course of action. But I also have their pages open when I'm not playing: I browse star systems, I tinker with possible ship builds, I decide where my next base of operations should be. I like to think of it as the 34th century version of the internet: not Galnet, a paltry news bulletin that's about on the level of 1980s listservs, but a fully functional set of resources that my CMDR can use when he's grounded to keep up with the rest of the galaxy. 3rd party tools make the game better, with CMDRs cooperating to do things that FD doesn't have the resources to put together themselves. Isn't that what ED is supposed to be about? FD should be recognizing and thanking them, not locking them out of the process.

Close the APIs. Provide better in-game tools. Subsequently open API access to contracted third parties, for a fee.
Don't be held to ransom ever again
Please hold your breath while waiting for FDevs to fill this space in their paid developer time.again playing the "No Pay" card, when you are volunteering you dont expect anything in return, no support, no pay, no pat on your shoulder. If you are expecting that its maybe time to stop "volunteering" and let other people fill your space.
Frontier isn't being held ransom here, you are not entitled to the labor value generated by 3rd party tool developers. The third parties are absolutely allowed and should be encouraged to demonstrate their necessity to the community. For two years, 3rd party developers have been working without an API to develop tools that make this game playable, not just convenient. Strike action is the correct action to make a demand here for support which was recently withdrawn.
When you donate your labor to a cause, and Frontier makes it harder rather than easier, this seems like a reasonable action. Quit having a whine because people who value their own time and effort to make things better for you and for the entire community, without pay, mind, are demanding some minor concessions from Frontier.
If you think that this is "ransom" that only proves that their services are valuable and necessary, and that only goes to show that Frontier needs to provide working API solutions to work with these people rather than against them.

They do it all for free in their free time for us to enjoy. FD profits from them since they provide missing game features for free. They are just showing us and FD what would happen when they are gone.
I'm kind of amazed so many here claim these tools are indispensable or that the game is unplayable without them.
I think I must be playing another Elite Dangerous, as I'm doing just fine without them, and have been since original beta - when there were no such tools.

... and then go out of your way to damage a large community-led event.
The hypocrisy is a bit too much to stomach tbh, and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Most of us survived a year or so without these tools. Somehow...
