They literally did let people know years ago. They said they'd couldn't support API stuff because it is going to change to much and too often to keep up with it.The question that needs to be answered is does FD want to support 3rd Party Tools or Not?
If Not then make it clear that is their stance. Being silent about the issue does not help anyone.
