Not exactly. You described it in your OP as "a game" or a tactic with the explicit intention of derailment. My argument, is that derailment is never my intention, I just don't take most threads as seriously as some, particularly those who would use the forum as a soapbox.

Sure, the mods can decide, but in reality threads that don't fit into the categories that I outlined (ie reasonable threads made by people who are here because they enjoy being here) police themselves. As opposed to threads made by people who are only posting to tell everyone why they hate being here.


Is it derailment is the first poster agrees with you? You seem to be implying by omission that it's not. See, I do this all the time. Not to derail, simply because I don't consider anything said in a game forum important enough for more consideration.

In a thread with active and varied participation from a number of posters, these posts get lost in the noise to everyone not interested in them. No big deal.


Ok.... you might have a point with this one, but realistically, if you fall for it by responding, I wouldn't be hopeful that your original point would be worth the effort.

we got down to your motive for the friendly batter, and it was because you didn't think the thread was 'worthy'... thus, you where using banter too.. well in this case, be a smarty pants... but it showed us why you where doing it

Worthy? Of giving special consideration to? No. There are no threads on here so important that a couple of banter posts will cause the forum to collapse. Exactly as I've been saying all along. It seemed you were continuing to miss the not so subtle point, so I spelled it out for you.

Every post in this back and forth refers in some way to your original post. Even my first contribution a single pic of a car spoiler. An illustration that it's really not a big deal , not likely to derail a thread by itself, but rather requires an OP to be uptight enough to make an issue of it, for it to have any chance of derailing or even interrupting the sacred flow.

The banter amongst friends. Again an illustration that it's not that big a deal. Unless of course you want to be uptight about it. Is it strictly against the rules? Maybe... less so in this thread than in others though. Either way, no more worthy than other threads.

I don't need to hope I'm correct. I am correct. I can prove it. I'll stop replying to you and we'll see if the thread makes it to 10 pages of quality on topic discussion. Posts that take the mickey out of you don't count.

could you not see that when i said 'you obnoxious poster!, why you..upt..ghh... (Storms out)..spoiled (or is it spoiler-ed) everything,it was a bit of fun, do you really think i was having a tatrum?

based on how i have conducted my self in the face of onslaughts, and not once lost my cool.... no you cant be that silly, it was another attempt to grab something back..
