Why are there no MEMERABLE characters? It makes no sense from a designers persective.

I like the chars in the books.
I agree more work on them needs to be done , but I would not call them forgettable either.

They are just politicians , not sentient AIs or fallen jedi's turned dark lords of the sith. (or even raccoons , and lets keep it that way)
What I love about elite is that its just a ''normal'' universe.

The only difference is space-ships and a bit of space magic , but thats it.

I started to recognise faction member NPCs , and even if the interaction with them is not a thing yet , I think it will come. as well as like Golgot said dynamic NPCs are ment to be added.

There are books? If there are books why is the story just dead and emotionlessly delivered through gal net.

I believe the issue behind your complaint is an intentional choice. There is no grand story line to follow, breadcrumb-like through the galaxy. There is no single 'Final Boss' to conquer. We are pitting ourselves against the Galaxy. In it's entirety, but the galaxy doesn't even care. Some groups may appreciate your efforts, but no one else even notices. All of this is on purpose. It is an indicator of the character of our galaxy.

Missions in E|D are contract negotiations, rather than a personal pact to save the world. No one, PC or NPC, considers an individual Commander as anything special, and the only thing we save are credits. In a galaxy like this, how could you justify a unifying story line? Who would want a game, with more than a lot of systems, to funnel you through the systems that are part of an arc?

I cannot encourage you to enjoy E|D as I do without coming too close to spouting tropes. I will just say that I am proof positive that a game can be engrossing, without framing me as the savior, and without leading me down a scripted path.

Those are just rambles about loosing players based on inaccurate numbers.
That only takes into account steam players.

It ignores those who dont use steam , or who play on mac. on top of that it ignores the xbox players and soon to be Ps4 players.
Lets not forget that those posts are old.

Eh, to be fair.. player loss is player loss whatever way you look at it.

But you don't need a Final boss to conqure to have Memorable Characters. Every story has archatypes that people love and enjoy. They closest thing we have to a villian is Archan Delaine and it's so badly done it makes you bored with the game in mins.

I would not be proud of being a fan boy of a game that constantly gets this. Wide as an ocean shallow as a puddle.
I'm not bothered that people who need to throw around these denominations label call me a fan boy.

If you need to get it out of your system, how about carebear? Have one on me :)

(YES I REALIZE THAT SOME PEOPLE THINK THE GAME IS PERFECT, BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING WE ALREADY KNOW YOUR FANBOY OPINION)
My dear fellow, no one thinks this game is perfect.

It's what we in the trade call a strawman. Ask any fanboy and they'll have suggestions to improve the game.
Holy crap people are dumb.
No objections here. People are indeed dumb.

We should embrace our inner idiot. Makes life a lot easier.

Yup. Youre all clear to go on my ignore list. I encourage anyone with a shred of self respect to do the same.

In your opinion.
In my opinion the biggest current flaw is a 400 billion star galaxy without sufficient exploration tools.

That would be great. BUT I also want Reasons to Explore. 400 Billion stars and NO CHARACTERS LIFE OR ALIEN WORLDS.

This is why they call the game wide as ocean shallow as a puddle. Props only go so far to add and keep immersion. Lots of fan boys that don't seem to care about the rest of the community trying to Add suggestions about improvement. The game's biggest flaw is CONTENT and LACK OF STORY AND IMMERSION. Memorable characters would esasily fix this.
Because the fans dont make suggestions? (I make tones , and have even criticised aspects I hate , and still do)
This is not the suggestion forum , this is the discussion one. the section made for player to player discussion , the devs read it but its not made for that.

You cant just make good charecters.
And a good story is in the game , my story. your story.

Adding a scripted snore fest would make it stupid IMO.
That would make every player have the same story , the same missions , the same objective. you will be able to see what a player is doing , what mission they are doing based on what location they are in. (that kills immersion)

To be a great explorer you have to actualy find stuff... instead of playing a scripted mission
To be a war lord you have to have a army , by getting others to follow you... instead of playing a scripted mission

I want great chars , but because the game runs in real time (and I hope that never changes) that would mean FD have to change the chars every day or week.

The thing I love about elite is that , yesterday is over. you cant go back.
The eranin conflict is over. no one can play it again.
The early days of UA hunting is over , its part of history

The player driven naratives like the rift and alien plots are epic and feel real , rather than just some snore fest of ''be the one true hero''

Not gonna happen. How else will we get our entertainment? Ignore lists keep the best stuff from being seen. Just saying.

I remember you. And I saw you in the game! Pretty cool stuff.
