Yep, what ever FD do someone will be unhappy..... we clearly have different reasons for playing ED, and I guess that is to be expected and is fine. I just expected a decent economy in the game with believable supply and demand etc (both for materials and services) and that is one of the cornerstones of my incentive to play. Why now you may ask because as jex rightly says, these have existed one way or anotehr for ages.
to that i answer... I dunno. up until the last few months, I somehow convinced myself that these loopholes FD were actively working on closing, but just recently something finally clicked and i accepted that this is not something FD are that fussed about.
imo it would have been far better <for my playstyle> if FDs microtransactions was *just* credits for cash and everything on the store right now was purchasable / earnable in game with ingame money. FD would then have a real incentive to make the economy work then.
Oh I totally agree with you. I'd much rather have a working economy and deep fulfilling gameplay instead. My problem with elite is this: Normally when I play a game, if it is not fun, I simply quit (Mass Effect Andromeda comes to mind as the most recent game I just quit midway. LOVED the mass effect series).
With Elite though, even though its boring, dull and repetative and never can reach its potential due to the P2P network crap, I still want to play it because of its beauty and ship mechanics. I love flying around in VR. I said I'd rather use the get money quick schemes so I can do other things, but I'm at a point where the other things are no fun any more either.
I don't know, maybe I should be happy that I got a few months awesome gameplay out of it and be satisfied with that. But I still see the potential of it.
But yes, I agree with you that I'd much rather have a working economy, but we are WAY beyond that point now.
