THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Weirder than clothing made out of:
- petrified rotten plants and animals
- hair of animals
- dead plants
- skin from animals

Don't get me starting about food:
- bee vomit (with the extra bonus of bee vomit from bees that ate the excrements of other insects)
- rotten milk
- rotten leaves of a tree

Humans are weird.

Yes. [big grin]

Is there a list of dynasty settlements? The list I searched says some haven't been found yet, thanks
I am at formidine rift, beta and see some localities near me

Everything you need is in spoiler tags within the first two post of this thread.

It helps if you've been reading this thread for an age... Unless of course you like your sanity.

For those that like to keep their insanity intact, ther are indications of a single Guardian system on the southern edge of the Soul nebula or in EAFOTS, close to Soul sector.

Where did this information come from? I'm currently out at the end of the RR line looking to keep my insanity intact. :)

It's being discussed in the Canonn thread. A new single Guardian system was found close to the Eta Carina Nebula(blae eork qu-d d13-3 3). With the already known Guardian system of SKAUDAI AM-B D14-138, a system slightly south of Soul nebula would form a perfect equilateral triangle.

The Guardians seem to like equilateral triangles and it corresponds to the three Dynasty locations.

That's our theory, at least. :D

For my part, in the Canonn thread I posted this when the 2nd remote Guardian Ruin was reported in Blae Eork qu-d d13-3 3. That 2nd remote ruin plus the Skaudai site suggested an equilateral triangle around the primary Guardians sites. At first glance that appeared to be in the vicinity of H&S.

I then set about doing a more precise calculation which showed that the 3rd vertex should be very close to the Soul Nebula and also showed that the bulk of the existing guardian sites are not a proper centroid of the equilateral triangle. If a 3rd remote ruin is found near the Soul Nebula then the area around Bleae Thua UQ-R becomes interesting as that's the proper centroid.

Just read your analysis. I was looking for something to do and I think that answered the question. I'm over 12K LY from there at the moment out on the outer arm but will start the trek back.

For anyone headed there if you're near the bubble then pick up the mission at any station in Meene, you don't have to go to Ram Tah's engineer base. Unless I'm mistaken (never tried it without the mission) accepting the mission gives you Ram Tah's scanner (ethereal module you get by taking the mission). My understanding is It makes spotting ruins much easier. I may be wrong about whether they're equally easy to see with or without the mission, I've only done it with. Subsequent posts suggest this is not the case and the mission is only beneficial in terms of CR reward.

@Kenworth, hopefully you already have it, long haul to the bubble and back.

I do in the recent beta....does that count (yeah, I know the answer to that) [knocked out]

The Azophi expedition is out that way at the rift settlements this week, you could ask them to assist, I dont have an etheral scanner
I wondered how this game plays for latecomers, having discovered the bases just now and getting hooked on the path of souls puzzle, I hope all these candies can still be discovered by new players, like listening posts led me to a settlement in the bubble. But deciphering the transimissions in the rift was too much for me, they led to conflux Hawkins? And I suppose vice versa.
I have lost 12% hull due to high g landing at settlement, may need a quick trip back to base camp

You don't need to have the mission to spot the ruins. Found some sites recently without the mission (not new sites unfortunately).

I have had the mission before though. Don't know what happens if you've never had the mission.

I don't think it matters.

I hope you're right.
In support of your statement, there's nothing in the Galnet post that suggests one needs to do anything to upgrade their scanners.

Since the Synuefe ruins were discovered in October, hundreds of explorers, archaeologists and relic hunters have scoured the site for information about the race that created it. When engineer Ram Tah started researching the ruins, hundreds more joined the search, motivated either by a thirst for knowledge or by the promise of reward.

Now, Ram Tah claims to have made a significant breakthrough. In a statement, he said:

"Thanks to the hard work of many dedicated pilots – and in particular Commander Noodlz05 and his wingmates – I have isolated a signal in the Guardians' monolith network that will allow scanners to identify sites within 1,000 light seconds. This should make finding further Guardian ruins considerably easier."

"I would like to thank all those involved for their help. This was not an easy task, but together we have learned a great deal about the Guardians' fascinating culture."

I don't think it matters.

I struck that portion of my comment. Possibly it only effects scanning of obelisks and not the actual discovery. I just went back and double checked the Canonn thread. Zed did not have the Ram Tah scanner when he discovered the 2nd remote ruin site so that seems like good evidence it's not necessary for discovery.
